Generally when a candidate runs all the talk is about balancing the ticket.... So fred is old and there is a feeling that younger wife can bring more to the ticket..... That is also why the candidate is either younger or older than his running mate.... Over the last few years thanks to Lady bird and mor importantly hillary we look more at first ladies and what they have to say and bring to the party ticket... There may be a belief that she can go with a younger demographic and relate to them... Prez Bush's wife Laura... campaigned hard for him and put herself out there and really really tried to champion things like education and the red dress heart program.... I think that overall it makes a guy look more relatable if he has a younger hiper wife.... We may not be voting for her and she may not directly effect his campaign... but the overall pictures is important to many americans...

They had a second child in November, 2006. She has more credentials than Hillary Clinton.
