It is not zink, but zinc, a metal. Chemical symbol is Zn. Used to coat iron and steel objects such as sheets, pipes etc., to protect them from rusting. Galvanising is the process. Also used as containers for dry cells used in flash lights etc. Zinc oxide is also used in medical applications (plaster etc.).
