bacically the best suburb in vegas. and one that has stores with cheaper prices on little things like luggage locks and sunglasses? i went to walgreens on the way to downtown and to my surprise there was a security guard. the other shoppers seemed shady too, and i know downtown vegas has a rep for being dangerous. i want to avoid the crowds and traffic on the strip for now.

There are several decent malls around town. The Boulevard Mall at Maryland and Desert Inn is pretty large and has all the old mall standbys plus a good collection of big box retailers like Best Buy right near it on Maryland. Its pretty much the same deal with the Meadows Mall at Valley View and US-95.

Some other options...
Las Vegas Outlet Center at Las Vegas Blvd and Warm Springs, several miles south of Mandalay Bay.

While its on the strip, the Stratosphere shopping area is un-Vegas like in its shops and prices. Since it isnt the Forum Shops by any stretch, they need to have deals to stay alive. They is some good bargains to be had in many of the stores.

I hope this helps!

get off the strip and ask a local for directions, they have regular shopping places just like home, there are ma & pa stores, and even a Wal mart. Downtown Vegas is not bad, thats where Freemont Street is, and you don't want to miss the light show.
