My most memorable meal out was with my sister, her husband and kids, my husband and my great aunt at a local family restaurant. The food itself was unmemorable but not what happened. My sister managed to take offence at a joke I made and she was nasty. It made me realise that the resentment that she harboured against me was still there. She made me cry in public, which I hate.

Last year we went to Virgina for my dad's graduation. Yes, my dad. We ate at the little restaurant that used to be an old railroad stop. The atmosphere was nice, but the food was amazing.
First they brought out this bread, it was in a small ceramic-like bowl, and it was braided, 3 types, vanilla, chocolate, and a combo. It sounds sweet, but it wasn't overwhelming, it was the most incredible bread in the world, and it came with a butter mixture of their own, that had vanilla swirled into it. We also ordered appitizers, and the motzarella sticks we ordered were filled with pepper-jack cheese. Ohh so yummy. I ordered a tenderloin, and they smothered it in this incredible pepper sauce.

Well to this day I have not been able to find any food that tasted anywhere near as good. But the best part of it was that my whole family and I got to share such wonderful food together. I do plan on visiting this place again in the near future. I will get the name, that way all you folks who live in Virgina, or surrounding states can go for a weekend and fall in love as I did.

Easily the best meal "out", my wife and I were guests of a tribe in northerwestern California. We were served (no this was not something open to the public) as elders by the young folks with wild salmon cooked by a pit of glowing manzanita coals, fresh herbs and fruits and acorn bread. All this under the open sky at a camp in the mountains, followed by traditional songs and dances.

Most memorable meal was when i was younger my grandparents used to take us for a chinese takeaway, one would drive the 2 miles for the takeaway and we would go too, the smell of the food on the way back was tantalising and then we would get home to warmed plates and everything set out ready to eat the delicious meal. i used to go half and half with my grandfather with two dishes and then we would have a dance together after the meal. very cosy and very memorable. my grandparents have since died but i still eat my chinese carryouts off the same plates as they were passed on to me.

My husband and I don't go out to eat that often. (We both love cooking.) But a very nice restaurant had a Cajun buffet one night, and all the proceeds went to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The food was incredible and so much of it, and of course it was going towards a good cause.

16 years ago at a restaurant called Foulis Ferry just north of Inverness.

Only my wife and I in the place and 7 staff.

Everything (except dessert) had garlic.

Fantastic meal & quite romantic too!

I went out for a Chinese with close friends one time, and in my fortune cookie it said: 'Real friends leave footprints on your heart'. We all thought that was real appropriate. All us girlies got a little emotional!!
