I suppose I am a little down - some good things have happened, but still it is an uphill struggle.

Conservatives have a lot of hope for the country.

They tend to be more organized than the liberals, and they already have a strong majority on the Supreme Court.

It's the people who value freedom of choice and respect for diversity that should be worried.

I just posted a question about Harry Potter books , Ipods , Video Games , etc to discuss my concerns with American Society . People have become so materialistic that they'll wait in line for hours for a book. . . or a video game , yet are 'too busy' for far more important things . And just what is the deal with folks who 'think' they 'need' to get stuff / material on the first day anyway ? What's the difference if they got them the second day or next week ? Nothing !!
Then there's a whole plethora of other issues that indicate a decline in the moral fabric and rationale of our society . Inclusiveness for everything and everybody without consideration for right or wrong . Just inclusiveness regardless . I think that's very dangerous and am saddened that I am likely witnessing the end .
Add to all that , the fact that Radical Islam is so big and prevalent at this point , that I really don't think it can be defeated . Sure , we can try and we should , but hearts and minds must be changed and that will take decades. . ... . . .and I don't believe we have the 'convenience' of decades before Radical Islam is successful .
Sad days indeed .
The only joy or consolation is that if all this continues , surely the Lord Jesus Christ will be here soon .
Praise be to our Lord , Jesus Christ !!

There is always hope. Remember that the worst thing that can happen to a liberal agenda is to have liberals actually in power to enact some of their ideas. Once the emptiness of the promise is clear the electorate always rebounds.

One hates to see the depth of the valley between but sometimes it is a valley that needs to be crossed. I'm sure that liberals feel the same way.

In some ways, continuing power by either side could have terrible results. Liberal management of European countries has resulted in considerable internal rot in the western countries. Long term conservative management of an economy could result in a heightened class division. By swinging from one end to the other it becomes impossible for either side to have a lasting impact meaning that, we avoid the decay of a socialist regime while also avoiding the stratification of a conservative government.

Of course, you could try for a moderate approach but it is difficult to get good sound bites for such policies. The American electorate has found its own way to such moderation though, by generally having a split government. The fact is that up until the '06 election we did have an overwhelmingly conservative-looking government.

Support for the moderate nature of the electorate is the moderate nature of the Democratic candidates who were voted in. While I would hesitate to say this in all circumstances the democrats who were elected into formerly republican seats seem closer to conservative than liberal in many of their positions. Many (see Webb in Virginia) were Republicans and could be considered Democrat by convenience and not by conviction.

Keep up your hope. In the end, the population as a whole is in charge and it has shown itself to be much more intelligent than the politicians. Have faith.

I would hope that everyone has hope for this great land of ours. When we give up hope, we are admitting defeat, and I hope we never do that.

I am sorry that you are a little down today, but just take a look around you. We have so much that people in other lands do not have.

Yes, it is an uphill struggle but you can never give up the battle for if you do, all will be lost.

My roots go back to 1805 in this country. My GGGrandfather was a 1st LT in the 16th Michigan and was wounded 3 times at Gettysburg on the second day. He fought to conserve this country and its values.
Gen. Patton said " Real Americans don't tolerate losers" fortunately there are more thought minded americans in this country that the left would make you believe otherwise.

True conservatives want to keep the heritage set forth in our Constitution, especially the 1st and 2d ammendments which the Liberals want to tear down.

In the words of Rush Limbaugh "keep your chin up my friends"

As a fellow conservative, I often share your feelings! My greatest concern is the fact that we are losing our identity due to all this immigration. I do NOT agree that we should post signs in Spanish for illegals to be able to read. Other nationalities, such as the Vietnamese, come here and respect this country enough to learn our language. I am also very saddened by our public school system...I think, by and large, they are turning out a generation of ill-educated young people and NO ONE seems to "get it'! On a brighter note, we must keep on, keeping on! This country is ultimately worth any fight. Cheers, comrade!!!!!

Yes, I have hope and after several years of remaining politically dormant, the '06 election woke me up.

We have a battle ahead of us, that's for certain. That battle is to not allow a Socialist take-over and to fight those who have been on the hill representing big business monopolies instead of their constituents. Both sides have sold us out.

I'm a true conservative who believes in capitalism and fair competition in the market place.

Please, tell us the good things that have happened? If you are real and truly want to fix things for conservatives support and vote for Ron Paul.
