Ok...let me give more information on this one. We have had rain steady for 4 days....we have a 18' round x 4' deep pool...it is already 1/2 way filled....with rain called for the next week. What I want to know...is is it safe to use if treated with proper checmicals. Please do not answer this question with anymore sassy answers. Thank you.

If you are familiar with the weather patterns of the midwest US, you could probably fill several swimming pools with all the rain they've been getting...
BUT... no - it would take a LONG time to fill a standard-size swimming pool with rain... and, if it is raining THAT much, you are going to get mud, leaves, and all sorts of problems in your pool... gaters... the neighbor's cat... trees... ya know?

Do you know how long that would take. If its all the way empty you should call a truck that brings water and that takes about 1 and a half hours to fill. If you use a garden hose it would take 2 days. Rain water would take so long, plus you would need a steady downpour.

as long as you use the right chemicals, a little rain water won't hurt anything. i wouldn't recommend filling the whole pool with rain water, or even half of the pool for that matter, it would take too long and it would probably start to attract bugs, leaves, and a lot of dirt. as long as you keep your pool clean, the rain water shouldn't do any damage.

if your talking about completely filling your pool with rain water , you can , but its not practical to say the least lol
and you would want to maintain the water any way and maintaing the quality of a litlle bit of rain water each time is not practical
if your pool is topped up by rain water over winter thats alright (im in australia) and we just let our pool sit over the winter .
just cleaning the leafs etc

Hope your not planning to run rain off the roof into the pool. Not a good idea unless it is filtered.
This is/was done for cisterns but the cistern had sand to filter the water.

growing up our parents would let the rain water go in to "top it off" shouldnt hurt the other water as long as you add the right amount/mixture of chemicals to keep the water clean. saves you from having to run the hose or order a truck load too!

If you really have that much time go for it, if it becomes filled the pool's water will be disgusting.

I tried that. I ended up getting a pool of gross water and a lot of bugs. So I wouldn't if I were you.
