Yes. Without high-speed internet, it simply won't work.
Consider this:
High Speed internet via cable company - $45 per month
Vonage: $25 per month
(abandon your phone company and transfer your old phone number to your new vonage service).
I've had Vonage for about 3 years... it's awesome.
Good luck and Happy Computing!

You need to provide your own broadband connection. I would strongly recommend a cable internet connection instead of DSL. DSL is usually provisioned by the phone companies and they have a vested interest in preserving their voice networks and have been known to either block VOIP traffic or give it low priority on their networks. This renders VOIP services like Vonage less than useful.

You need your own broadband connection. Vonage is merely a voice service that rides over your Internet connection. They are not an Internet provider themselves.

Yes you will need a broadband connection. It does use alot of bandwidth to transfer the data over the network. But you save alot of money using vonage.

Yes, it is not it's own internet connection so it will need your existing broadband connection to allow you to use the service.
