Does it make financial sense to repair the vehicle?
I currently own a 1993 Honda Civic Coupe (170,000 miles). Last week, I had the vehicle checked for noise. The Midas technician asked if this vehicle had been involved in a collision, and pointed to a cracked frame in the passenger rear side. I told him no collision or accident whatsoever. The only possibility I can think of are pot holes, rust (due road salt in Michigan) and road constructions.

The technician recommended having the vehicle serviced by Honda. Is it worth the investment to pay for repairs ? Is a cracked frame repairable ? Is this a safety concern ?

This is my first vehicle and have been extremely pleased especially with the mileage.

Thanks.

well you in a sticky situation. Since I have no idea exactly where the crack is its hard to answer. But if its in the sub frame where the suspension, brakes and such bolt to you can get a replacement (used) and spend some money, not alot, maybe 750 to have it replaced. Now if its in the unibody ( the car itself ) I wouldn't recommend it.........

Honda will charge you way way to much. The car has to many miles on it to put a bunch of money into, if you know a good welder he could probably fix it, if not i'd get a different car.

If you love your car, then give it some love. Take it to Honda and get the crack fixed! Even if it costs $200, it's worth it! You love this car! You need it to take you around, now it needs you to return the favour and show it some love. I would even say it's worth spending up to $1,000 to fix a car I love.

you shouldn't be that worried about this but to make it safe if any one hits it from behind find a weld shop and they can weld the crack or put a plate over it and weld that up to make it supper Strong for as little as $20 to $30
