We are moved in to our semi complete home. Were doing most of the finishing work. The house is still pretty raw inside.

Used to get some septic gasses venting inside. (what a house warming) Decided to cap off all drains and pipes that lead outside and were not yet connected. It worked for a couple weeks.

Now everytime I do laundry or use water in volume the smell has come back but worse. Please imagine a steaming pile of manure, that is what the house smells like. It takes several hours to dispate and lots of incense. It's especially nice when people decide to drop by : (

We put some septic microbe treatment in but I am unsure what to do besides that and stop eating at Taco Bell : )

I am sure there is a mountain of funny that can be made from this, I do SERIOUSLY need help. Thanks.

Either you have a bad trap, the trap is not water filled so is allowing gas into the house, or you have a very faulty septic system. Either way you should get professional help asap.

Contact your contractor and tell him to get it handles right away.

Actually, as you describe it, I doubt you could get a valid occupancy permit....that's a good question though. Did you get an occupancy permit before moving into the house? Are they even required where you live? If not, why? If you don't have one, it may not even be legal for you to be there yet. Heaven knows I wouldn't want to be there under those conditions.

I watched a house for 6 months and it had this same problem. the owner came back and had the tank pumped and still had the same stink. turns out the tank he had pumped was some sort of reserve tank and the real tank ( the big one) was about 10 ft away and chock full of that lovely stuff. im no expert. maybe check the blueprints or the land layout to find out if thats the case. town hall should have those types of records if you dont.

You should not be living in a house with the plumbing unfinished. You probably capped off a vent pipe and thats why the sewer smell is coming into the house.

I would not be playing around with this problem I think you had better get expert advice and get it solved before it gets worse. If it is a new built house you should be able to get after the building company. Good Good luck.

that is what S traps and P traps are for. they hold water that doesnt allow gasses to come into your house. make sure all the drains have traps and that they are properly installed!

Call in a service to detect cracks in tank/or leaks in pipes.
