I usually write text messages and emails in my native language FILIPINO. However, iPhone 'suggests' English words that have similar spelling and if I'm in a hurry and don't notice it, iPhone substitutes the words and when I hit the send button I get a reply from the recipient saying, "HA?". It could really be frustrating.

Depends on the phone...but either in the message itself, or under the overall messaging menu, there should be Options or something similar available. You should be able to change the default text entry mode
