I don't mind the updates, but it does a scan everyday. I would prefer once a week. Is there anyway I can change this? If so what steps do I take. Thanks

Launch AVG Control Center, then click on Scheduler. Then click for Test Plan in basic mode and edit it to disable or delete it. Then, create a New Schedule, and set the Schedule to Test, then select Perform task tab, and set to Weekly and the day, or whatever that you choose. Also, don't forget to set what type of test would you like AVG to run weekly. There are other options as well, like would you like it run automatically or have a warning first, etc. Scroll through, everything is self explanatory...Hope that this helps.

With the free edition you can only choose what time of day it will run a test. It's either every day or not at all.

Frankly, I can't imagine running a virus scan every day. Seems crazy to me. I would keep the updates coming, but turn off the automatic test. Just run it manually when it's convenient once a week if you must.

Using common sense is the best defense against a virus. Save attachments and scan before opening, delete them entirely if you don't know what they are or who they're from, use a good firewall, things like that.

I've been using AVG Free for many years and it works better than a lot of paid virus software. Regardless of the virus product you might have on your computer, running a free on-line scan on occasion doesn't hurt either.

Open AVG free edition and go to shedular and change the settings of the sheduled timing.By the way, why don't you prefer scanning daily?I prefer scanning the computer daily, just to be safe. However the scanning starts automatically as soon as you on the PC first time a day .If you take my advice it's better to scan daily.

You can go into options to change how often it updates or scans, try changing it to a time you don't use the computer much.

Yes, there is a way by going into the options, or clicking help for more information. Remember AVG isn't the best Virus Protection out there, Especially free versions...

No, and why would you want to!! Virus writers are working 24/7 to get things out there and AVG often updates three or four times a day! Mine auto runs in the morning but I often run it again during the day - its the paid version so I know when updates are out!

Turn off the scheduling altogether. It's really pointless. As long as you've run one full scan, any new files that come in are automatically scanned anyways.
