I'm thinking of working for the IRS there. A temp job, I think.
I hope. Never been there. Never been anywhere near there.
I live in Texas now. Always wanted to see that part of the country.

Holtsville is on Long Island, about 60 miles from New York City.
For some reason, I think it might be a grim place. The kind of place that might have a state prison. Something like that.

I don't know I'd go as far as grim, but it's not a hotbed of activity. I am fairly sure there are no prisons there.
On the plus side, you'd be damm close to some really nice beaches and the city is just a train ride away. It will be VERY different from Texas, I assure you of that, but why not give it a shot. I live on Long Island (western Nassau) and commute to the city every day. You're correct in thinking there are some grim spots on the island but you don't have to live in them.
