In real life, yes, but when does a character ever die in children's television show -- particularly a cartoon? I mean, what could possibly stop Gargomel from just stomping on the Smurfs?

Because Death was an unsuitable subject or topic, at the time and was forbidden to be veiwed by kids, esp in cartoons. Try to use some common sense, WHAT are you going to let your kids watch????
