yes,they are queens looking for new nests, and this time of year they start to move, i got home the other day and they were all over the place. they come out of their nests to move to new ones. its horrible when you see loads of them all in one place its just a mass of black and white creepy stuff,........ bleuch!!!!!!!

When "baby" ants reach a certain stage of development, they develop wings and swarm from the nest. On landing they shed their wings, find a mate, and set up a new nest. Females become the new queen, but the unfortunate male lives a life of drudgery thereafter.

There are insects that look almost identical to ants that can also fly, but I believe they're classified as a type of wasp.

yes, its how certain ants move colonies (sp) ..
we get lots here.. they drive me crazy... YUK!

not all ants can fly - its the same as some are workers, one is queen, some are guards and some can fly ......

they are a longer version of ants that have white/clear wings. they are annoying because they just fly anywhere espicially in your face. where i live they are everywhere.

we get them in th uk when they hatch out then their wings drop of and they get to be regular ones
