I went to China on holiday for two weeks whilst my hubby stayed at home. No, he wasn't my first 'mate' and I think its good that we don't need to be with one another 24 hours a day. I don't think it makes us stronger, but we probably appreciate the time we get together more.

1.Whats the longest you've been seperated from your mate?
Never! Oh, we've had our spats and such and one of us has slept on the couch now and then or gone to to their parent's for the night, but we've never been actually separated.
2. Are you still with your first mate
If you mean "the one I lost my virginity to" that would be a big "no" though she still tries to hit me up for something I can no longer do (though I certainly would if still single . . . *chuckle*)
But if you mean . .. . marriage? Yes, absolutely. I met her in 1994, started going out with her in late 1995, got engaged in 1996 and married in 1997 :)
3. How does question 1 and 2 relate for you? (does a long seperation have a strong impact on your relationship)
It relates in the fact that every couple argues about stuff (whether big or small) now and then, but it's how they handle it, and how they face up to adversity, that strengthens and defines them beyond that which attracted them in the first place.

We separated for 4 days.
We are still together.
It was the longest 4 days of both our lives, and it did help in the long run, as we were able to cool off and put things in perspective and clear the air, but it won't always help. Sometimes separating can either make it or break it!
Good luck Sweetness, hope this helps!
