very odd question. you cant have hydraulic cables. a manual gearbox can have a mechanical linkage clutch pedal, a cable or hydraulic. as for shifting its done through linkage. majority of the newer transmission use a rail shift inside the trans and either a cable ( FWD ) and direct mount ( RWD ) to change gears. Now newer vehicles with the padel style on the steering wheel use a whole different setup that requires an engine kill switch so a soleniod can shift gears. only on high dollar cars.....hope this helps
