Sometimes you can tell that someone is staring at you or if someone is coming into a room and you have your eyes closed.

What is it that makes us sense this.

It has to do with the basic survival instinct.

Although it isn't as much of a survival tool as it would have been for early man. Early man's senses would have been much keener than ours is, because it was vitally important for their survival. We use it for the fight or flight response as well.

I believe it is our own intuition that brings awareness to the unescapable feeling of being watched. You may not see the person but you can sense them.

I think this is either ESP or your friend nudges you and says THAT PERSON OVER THERE IS STARING AT YOU.
