Well a few that come to mind are Homeward Bound, Milo and Otis, and Dances With Wolves. Although I guess those are kind of more adventure, rather than "way of life." You might check out "Mean Creek"... it's pretty crazy and is set in the wilderness. Oh, and one great adventure outdoors movie is "The River Wild," just to throw it out there.
