My parents are getting older each day. Soon they will reach their retiring ages. I am a secondary school graduate and make just enough for myself. I really am worried that they can't make their life safely in Hong Kong in the future

In the US it is more like $1,500 per month, plus medical and prescription. $5,000 sounds very high.

All the benefits that are paid come from the people who are working. The money is taken out of their paychecks, and sent to the recipient. Many working people do not like this tax, but they have no choice.

The same is true for people all over the world. WE have all been strongly advised to put money aside for a pension fund....and we didn't. Now that we have arrived at the age where a pension fund would be very handy, we have no one to blame but ourselves....that is life, babe...hard but true. Why do you feel that the government is responsible for those who have been less than responsible in their lives? And yes, I know that there are many who never had money left to put aside after doing all that was necessary...there is no cure for this, for there just isn't enough money in the world to take care of everyone...perhaps a great population "deplosion" is what's needed...face it, there are far too many people on Earth to be supported by the planet.

Your parents should have 5k a month to live on--I would be rich in 2 months. If they made no provisions for old age then it will be up to you to help them out. Sad but true.
