Lincoln declared it a national holiday during the Civil War.

Well, it does have to do with pilgrims and Indians. The food supply was low, and winter was quickly approaching. Rather than see the new settlers starve, the Native Americans chose to share their crop of corn and their successful hunt of turkey with them. They gave thanks for the food, and we continue the tradition to this day. Your hint is misinformed, sorry.

Thaksgiving is the day that the pilgrems came to america, the indians taught them to grow crops, they had a feast and they gave 'thanks' so it is called thaksgiving day
