how do u know the diffrence of a normal vaginal odor as to one tha might have bacterial vaginosis. I have had the same vaginal odor since i was a pre teen going through puberty as i do now im 21 it the same exact odor just that over the years it has gotten slightly stonger. people always post on these question that if it smell foul or like fish there something wrong but what is the definition of foul odor wouldnt that vary from person to person and what does fish even smell like. Many people comment that the vaginal area should not smell and i find that hard to believe that it vagina areawould not have any type of body odor and how do i know if my smell is normal i mean the only coochie that ive smelled is my own no one else so it's not like i have anything to compare it to. also after a full day of normal activity when i sit on the toilet to pee and pull my underwear to my thighs while i pee i can catch the smell traped in the crotch are of my underwear is that normal?

If your not noticing a major change in odor then you are fine, the smell in your panties is fine, its pheromones, a hormone released by the body, and yes you should have a bit of a scent down there to not have one is not normal. The scent given off be the vagina is normal. Now it does change in strength from time to time depending on your time of the month, as well as your sexual arousal. Nothing to worry about. It is quite obvious if you have an infection because you would also have a discharge of fluids, as well as a stronger kind of off smell. Now some discharge is fine, that is the vagina cleaning itself but a lot of discharge such as yellowish or cottage cheese like followed by itchy or burning feeling that is when you should see a Dr.

Good luck.

EDIT: ps I do not agree with sokokl, you will always have a slight odor as explained by my post.

Yeah i know wut u mean and sometimes i feel the same way too. My docs have told me sometimes scented soaps and body washes can cause vaginal odor..and sometimes when ur body is producing heat between ur thighs that can produce an odor too... so i bought unscented vaginal washes like summers eve and they helped.. and i buy the wipes too...maybe u can try using the wipes everytime u use the bathroom..get the summer eves wipes. Yeah dont douche cuz ur more prone to bacterial infections..NO GOOD!! I sometimes u those feminine deorderant sprays..i find those help they are specifically used to spray "down there". Also ive heard that eating yogurt is really good for clearing out infections or getting rid of odor because yogurt have good bacteria culture that can eat away the bad bacteria in your vagina...hope i helped!

The only other time the vagina might have a smell is when one is having a period but otherwise it should not smell. The smell that can occur on panties sometimes is from the urine which comes from a different opening.

When someone has an infection called bacterial vaginosis the smell is usually the same like a rotten fish.

And yes, sometimes it is normal to smell the urine that drips on the panties but if it's super strong it could indicate an infection, just like with the fishy smell for bacterial vaginosis.

If you are noticing a smell that is getting stronger on a regular basis I would recommend having this evaluated by your doctor to see what they say.

After reading this question with my hand covering my mouth in sheer horror, I'm seriously considering homosexuality.

None of the girls that I have ever slept with have had particularly strong odours, exept one. And let me tell you, that thing needed to be registered as a deadly weapon. With her pants down she could induce vomiting from 50 feet away. A dead fish? More like an anchovy that had just eaten a sh*tload of garlic and cheese.
