Ah but he who hastens to add may find he gets his sums all wrong sir. Interesting, isn't it, how some phrases have become identified as 'intelligentsia shorthand'. And the more archaic the phrase, often the more intelligent the speaker thinks it makes them. I was with a friend last night who, quite unexpectedly, said "Oh we shall be well and truly in our cups tonight".
(rolls eyes)
As for church - we tend to go after a hard days work, rather than on a Sunday morning. Of course "church", for my wife and I, is code for "bookstore" :oD Too much to do on a Sudnay that needs real devotion. Snoring. Three-Hour Breakfasts. That sort of thing.
Besides, I did my bit yesterday - went up and down from London to Edinburgh in a day to sit in a cathedral - a pigging CATHEDRAL no less(!) - to watch my pal get married. The cathedral's still standing. I must be losing my demonic touch...

I have the time for church, but stopped going several years ago when the abuse scandal exploded here in Massachusetts. I disagreed with a lot of the Catholic church's teaching anyway, but still enjoyed going to mass. The more the victims revealed and the worse the church handled it, the more disgusted I became with the "powers that be" and could not stand to listen to yet another 2-faced priest practically condone the cover-up. As if all the mess wasn't bad enough, the archdiocese started closing churches and they still sit today --- closed up and decaying. The governing ones could have at least turned the buildings into homeless shelters or something else useful to the community.
I'm interested in finding a more open-minded, liberal-leaning, accepting of everybody church. any suggestions?

Sooo, Mr. Uber, just wanted to thank you in advance for helping with the problems on here. :-)
Anyway, I usually work on Sundays, but have today off (I work with developmentally/mentally disabled persons).
But I'm still not planning on going to church. Think I'll hold a little church service of my very own out here on my screened in porch and enjoy a little of the cool, rainy day. :-) BB.

It is sexist. my guess is men have a harder time controlling their sex drive than women. The truth remains that the Bible is for celibacy no matter what sex [1 Corinthians 7:32-35]. We are all brides of Christ. That's why Im celibate and a male.

No, I'm a bit disillusioned with my current church and am looking for another in my area.
