To look forward to something implies a goal.

Do you have a goal? A SPECIFIC goal, not something like "I want to feel better", but something specific like "I want to do X or experience Y".

I don't know anything about your situation, but I have had situations myself where I was miserable.

To try to rectify the situation, I started by identifying at least 1 reason why I was unhappy. In that case, it was my job. Everything about it made me miserable. An obvious goal was "get a new job" but that wasn't particularly forthcoming. I had been looking for 2 years and still hadn't gotten anything.

So I changed my goal. I set the goal that I was going to take a week off. I didn't end up meeting the entirety of the goal, I ended up taking 3 days off around a weekend, but I made sure that I saved enough money up that I could take myself out on a "date" while on vacation.

I went to a restaurant for lunch and out to a movie and then I went for a walk in a nice place (a park, I think). The goal was set out for 2 months so that I had enough time to save up for this, and so I could set up the time off.

I then write it on the calendars in the house, and I set small goals to help establish the big goal. I bought a gift card for the restaurant, and a new book that I would read during lunch. I bought a prepaid movie ticket for the theatre. I also researched the parks that I was interested in.

All of that helped. My job still made me miserable, and I didn't make enough to go anywhere, but I had something to look forward to.

Now I have a new job, and I am much happier. I have new goals. I have added 2 physical classes to my weekly routine and started volunteering at my local zoo. This helps because the classes give me time to socialize with people with similar interests to myself, and a VERY physical workout so I get tired and can sleep better. I also have picked a couple of hobbies to delve into more deeply.

My life has changed a lot. I have found new friends and have lost some. I would suggest trying to find a hobby that you are interested in, or find new ways to work old hobbies. Find someone online who shares a similar interest and is in your area. An example would be if you like photography or bird watching, join a local group going out bird watching or going somewhere to take pictures.

Pick someplace in your area that you have never been and go there.

Be a tourist for a day. Find places in your city that tourists go see and go gawk at the sights.

Save up and go to the spa for a massage or something. Yes, even if you are a guy. A massage is sometimes very helpful. Check in your area for massage schools, you might get a deal by volunteering to be a massage dummy for a graduating student.

Ultimately, it is up to you to choose something, but it can be hard when you feel lost, to know where to look.

If you have a close friend, ask if they might be willing to go touristing with you. Sometimes it is nice to have someone along to talk to.

As saint Mostly Holy Grasworth, Ender of Beauracracy, Bringer of the Aftermath, Keeper of the Infamous Tunafish Sandwich of Madagascar, I do hearby what with the ceremony and such, bestow upon you my blessing.

To find the peace you seek, you must determine where you are lost *from*. Once you know from where you came you can decide if that is the place you want to return to, or if you need a new destination altogether.

If it is a new destination you seek, make a list of everything that is important to you. Be as succinct as possible. Start typing groups of these things into a search engine and you will find others interested in the same things. From them you may learn a new path to follow.

If you wish to return to your previous state, contemplate how it is you came to leave that state. Is that something you can revert from? If not, is there another path back to it while keeping whatever knowledge or action caused you to leave it?

To find peace, simply attempt to gain perspecive. Here's two methods I like to use:

Try to look at your situation in life from outside in. Attempt to dissociate yourself from the event and step through how you feel. All you perceive as reality is dependent upon the perspective you view it with. If you can determine how something makes you feel a certain way, you may be able to conciously alter your view of the event to prevent the negative feelings.

Consider the hydrogen atom. A hydrogen atom is only about a ten millionth of a millimeter in diameter, but the proton in the middle is a hundred thousand times smaller, and the electron whizzing around the outside is a thousand times smaller than THAT. The rest of the atom is empty. If you scale the proton up to about a foot in diameter, the electron would be located 11 miles from the proton.

Don't know what you need answers to. As far a something to look foward to how about good times with friends, family etc. If you do not have a special person in your life you will someday. You can find peace by helping others. If you have time on your hands do some volunteer work. Take a dance class, art class, pottery etc. Get out there and enjoy life. Meditate.

Try Yoga lessons. They help people relax their mind and basically your whole body.

And if you dont already have one... get a girlfriend.. someone special.. who you look forward to spending time with....

Once in a while you could just kneel down and pray to God... it doesnt have to be an actual prayer, just talk to him... it helps alot coz it actually feels like someone is listening.. even though you may not always get a reply...

Sometimes just a quiet walk or jog around your block or near the beach can help you clear your mind.

Music! It always seems to help me calm down.... I can actually think alot better with music on then off...

Religion will make it worse . . .

Try taking a trip by yourself, to somewhere far enough from home you cant crawl back and somewhere youve always wanted to go, I flew from Ky to the west coast for 2 weeks and came back a new person.
