Don't worry, it's normal for your period to be irregular when you first get it. Expect it to be like this for about a year, then it will settle down and become more adaptable and regular. I remember when I first had mine. It was exactly as you described! Light/Heavy, On/off, Sometimes longer than a week/shorter than 3 days. My best advice is to carry a couple of pads in your backpack, in case the unexpected arrives. Also it doesn't hurt to have backup underwear/pants in your locker in case ;) Try going to a female doctor or ask your mother about periods. Good Luck and don't worry too much, every female goes through this phase.

It's normal for periods to be irregular when first starting out with having periods. Because of that the intensity can change from month to month.

But because of how long you have been bleeding (this is breakthrough bleeding which can act a lot like a period) I think this definitely requires that you tell your mom what is going on and get evaluated by a doctor. Since you have a male doctor you can request a female doctor. I would highly recommend it any way when it comes to checking female area when problems are suspected.

But as one of the other posters said if your male doctor does end up doing the exam by law a nurse must be in the room when he does the exam.

A really good doctor will also explain what they are doing as they do it. If you should end up going to a gynecologist (a doctor that treats problems with girl parts) I would suggest asking for a female doctor. On the first visit you can ask that the discussion take place in plainclothes first.

Ok first off you need to calm down. Its alright to be scared i was also your age when i had my first period and all and i am now 17 years old. You will not get canacer they are just imature morons about this topic and seem to not know what they are talking about. Everyones period starts off light and chnanges sometimes i have mine light and sometimes bam!!!!!!! its heavy it sucks but hey dont be scared you are perfectly health. It going to be like that irregular since its only your second time. Belive me when i fisrt had mine i was freaking out i was so confued and all but got through it if i can get through it you certainly can. You dont need to go to the doctor. I dont even think he would look up there considering he would probably know that its normal to have irregular cycles considering its your second period. Just think your healthy!!!!!!! Welcome to womenhood and congratz on becoming a lady!!!!!!!!!!!

Haven't you talked to your parents yet? If you feel uncomfortable seeing a male doctor, you could request a female gynecologist instead.

Since this is only your second period, Idk if this is supposed to be an exception to the 3-5 day rule....I remember my first few periods were quite long and heavy. However, 3 weeks is certainly worrisome. I think you should definitely look your symptoms up online, see a doctor, talk to your parents, etc.

Don't be scared! The Menstrual Period is the shedding of the uterine lining. It consists mostly of fluid and tissue. What you are experiencing is the tissue that is shedding from your uterus. Just a quick thought for you. Tampons are only to be worn for up to 8 hours, but not recommended. It is recommended for women to wear them only for 4 to 5 hours. Wearing them for more than 8 hours can cause TSS, Toxic Shock Syndrome. This is very rare, but it does happen. So at night you should maybe stick to pads. I know they suck, but just a thought. Good luck and don't worry!

I know how you feel. My first few times where exactly like that! Don't worry, in my home-ec class when i was in the 7th grade, my teacher told us that that stuff can happen. Its just your body's way of getting ready and preparing you for further periods. Don't be scared. I was scared to, till she(my teacher) sat me down and told me same thing happens to lots of girls. Not all of them, just lots. I still have that problem sometimes, like if i take medication or am way to stressed and i'm 20. So have no fear. You'll be fine. :).

You can request to see your nurse. A doctor most likely won't examine you there, he'll just feel your tummy area. This seems quite normal actually. Things will level out.
