There are good and bad in all signs...as long as people are people. So there aren't any "best signs". Aries is the 1st sign of the zodiac.

there is no true "best" sign in the zodiac...astrology is balanced in such a way that each sign has positive and negative traits which will ultimately balance them all out equally...astro is based on balance and harmony, so there are no signs better than any other...
it should also be mentioned, since aries was specifically mentioned, that depending on who you talk to, opinions and perspectives will differ GREATLY (seeing as how aries born individuals are often very intense and aggressive, but usually with good intentions and a genuine desire to create a positive result in their affairs)...i happen to be a pisces (and two of my VERY dearest friends are aries people)...not everyone knows how to handle an aries (if it's even possible), but despite the extreme differences in an aries and a pisces...a fulfilling friendship was the result, and worth all the "getting used to" and "feelings hurt" and "fussy emotional differences" and what not...lol
aries is no better than any other sign, let's be fair...but try telling an aries that face to face...lol (bring a tissue) =)

No they are the first sign in the zodiac's does not make them the best
The first sign of the zodiac is the child of the zodiac. You tend to have a "me-me" attitude, like the smallest infant, that you and your needs are the centre of the universe. You have faith in yourself but often a naive trust in others. You are quick to anger, but the tantrum is soon over. You can't remain angry for long, and often apologise soon after. You can be satirical and sarcastic. Energetic, especially when young, you have a strong constitution but be careful not to abuse it. Despite your firebrand spirit you can't stand physical pain, but as you like to be on top you hate to submit to illness. A great optimist, Aries is friendly, forceful, idealistic and comes straight to the point.

yes its best!!! april 12th.. we may be a bit ego centric, so if others dont like it too bad. we can get a lot accomplished when we want to.. as long as we dont step on too many toes, life can be great..
