why are indians so rude?

they have this arrogance towards americans, like they're smarter.
americans show them respect, but get nothing in return. why?

Being an Indian and having lived for many years in US, I find that Indians are arrogant in general. I do not find it or take it as an insult because it is there general normal behaviour and it comes as a shock after living in other part of the world where people are mostly soft spoken and are not blunt. So it may not be a direct arrogance to americans, it may take a while to get adjusted to the normal behaviour which we perceive as abnormal.

I am an Indian myself. And grew up in India until 12. I do agree Indians are rude and mean. Especially people born in india. They always think they're better than the whole world.

Indians don't know respect, they don't know how to wait in a line because they don't do that in India. Just look at some videos of train station in india and you'll know what I mean. And those same people when they come to the USA try to do the same thing here. Its just that they have never learned these things. Sad thing is their kids are just like them not all but most of them.

I am greatfull to be here for last 20 years now. USA is the best in the world. No matter how much people complain. In india you can't get anything legal done without bribing someone. They don't move! Money talks!

I am Indian spent my first 17 years in India, but have lived in California for the last 29 years. initially I used to wonder why Indians are rude, especially to their own kind? I believe it's a way of thinking...Think of a pizza(for a visual example), each Indian here in America wants a big slice, so the more Indians that show up to the party (America) the more they feel their slice gets smaller and they have to share. So, they act out to other Indians by being rude; becuase they have to share their peice of America with them.
Secondly like some others have said being tactful, respectful and waiting your turn is a foreign concept, in a country that has 3 + Billion people, it's a first come first served way of thinking. Overall however they are not bad, however don't work for them they make the worst bosses...Ha-ha! Cheers..

The reason we are so rude is because we are considered savages in reality we got slaughtered on the first thanksgiving as many indians know i wouldn't expect a white person to know that. Plus pilgrims gave us diseases which killed a lot of us. Plus we always get used for our money and people are always saying that's not fair but is it fair that we get no credit for being here first helping the pilgrims and in return we get killed.We get money and reservations because we were the first ones here so that is why we are always so so rude Any more questions from a luiseno native

Americans respect Indians from South Asia???!!! Are you kidding me, does Apu from the Simpsons ring a bell, that sure is respect!!! Not. Its actually Indians that try hard to make Americans happy, its Americans who have a bias against people with dark skin, and most Indians have dark skin, that are rude towards Indians. Get real.

I'm sure some of them are rude just as ANYONE can be rude. You don't have to be an Indian. But personally, I find them to be SO HOT. I think about being a lover to an Indian but I just never met any for dating. My partner is white. But Indians SEEM like they would be really hot lovers! Anyone out there with the experience? I am a white woman who often thinks of being with an Indian man. Maybe I just imagine this because I have read many romance novels about Indian men and white women.

Well, they were put on reservations and were forced to go to residential schools. They were taught not to speak their languages by white men. They took away their land and killed the things they needed to survive (buffalo). In my opinion, it's mostly white men fault that they're this way. I'm white and I don't see any rude Native American's in Canada. But I do see many are not educated and are in bad condition in general.

I had an Indian friend in Optometry school that I posed this question to: why is it that so many Indians are so smart?
His answer was that they are not, I was only seeing the best and brightest that had made it to the U.S. There are a great many millions of Indians that are quite average or below in their home country. In other words the top 5% is living in the U.S., Great Britain etc...
Many of them appear rude to Americans because they are accustomed to bargaining for anything and everything as is normal in their culture. They are unable to remove themselves from this long lived behavior.

To all of you who are defending the fact that Indians "ARE" rude, I'd like to add on that a humongous number of Indians are racist too! Try sitting in the local trains in Mumbai and instead of travelling in your cars, try walking your way to the mall. If you look a lil different or wear western cloths (I mean even basic denim and t shirt), you are 110% oogled at and teased at. This is in some way the method of seeking attention from women by most Indian men!

In my point of view, it must be cuz of the old urge inside them, that whites ruled their country for long years, and maybe that could be one of those reasons why they behave rude to every other White people, they even are a bit racist, when it comes to skin, i would call it jealousy. From their perspective, they are just normal, because they are used to the rude behavior, which other country people think as rude, because other parts of the world people are soft spoken...
