How do you get cooking tools in Harvest Moon DS? and can anyone tell me why i can never buy stuff from Van?

to buy stuff from van, he needs to be on the second floor of the inn, standing behind the 'counter' - you can't go around it to talk to him, that will result in regular conversation. you need to talk to him from the other side of the counter
