I love to ride!
Started out as a pillion on my hubby's bike, but now I have upgrade to riding on my own, and it is a joy beyond compare, not to mention I get to bond a lot more with my hubby because it is an interest we now both share and when we get the opportunity we ride together. (And he tells me he loves the fact that I can now share and understand the enjoyment he gets from riding)
For edjdonnell:-, just to let you know, I LOVE riding regardless of the weather that's why you buy waterproofed armoured riding gear!, and as for what you are able to pack well you can pack a tent, sleeping bag and mat, clothes for the duration for the time you are away not to mention the food you will need and the drink you want plus the stove to cook with - called camping gear this can be packed onto the bike with bags that are available from the motorcycle stores not to mention the groceries for a family of 4 (those bags pack in a wonderful amount.) If I need to carry larger things i.e. boxes that are what the spare seat is for.
Need music? carry your MP3 player with you (not that I'd want to because I enjoy listening to the silence if you have a pillion you can set up an intercom so you can talk but why would you riding with just your own thoughts is really nice!
There are some small things you may not be able to do on a motorcycle, that is drinking a hot coffee, but if you get a camel pack that is also achievable.
What you can get on a motorcycle is about the things you cannot get in a car! (And yes I love my family a lot though having ME time is so very important for my sanity and not having all those distractions that you now have in cars is so very nice as well)
Any vehicle can be dangerous it is how you drive/ride that will avoid the terrible consequences that can happen

I have been riding for 14 months, started with a Buell Blast and now own a Harley Sportster 1200. Love the freedom! Women rock on bikes!

Not sure why this is a question? No ones opinion really matters accept the woman doing the riding. I just took the course at 60, my opinion it terrific.

I think it is great tht women ride. The main reason that they get a bad rep is the way that some of them behave when they get off the bike. We have all seen the movies where there is always a biker chick in the gang who can outdrink anyone in the bar, and kick his *** too. A woman can still be feminine and ride, they don't need to degrade themselves...

Personally I do not care who I share the road with unless they have a hang up about someone else riding as well just because of what they are or object to motorbikes in principle. Those people are are either arrogant immature idiots or ill informed self opinionated rednecks. Unfortunately some of these people have answered above. Motorcycles are for everyone.

Why not ?
Should Women become Pilots or racing car drivers ? If they are able to do it then why should'nt they. I have just started riding at the grand age of 39 , should I be at home knitting instead or doing something that gives me enourmous pleasure , GO FOR IT ladies !!!

I love to ride! I feel it is another way for Hubby and I to connect and share a similar interest/hobby! I ride as often as I can and love the freedom it brings! Riding is a big way to relieve my stress! If a woman chooses to ride and do it safely I am all for it!!!

The more, the merrier. :))

There would probably be a lot more biker chicks if the manufacturers included women as a target audience in their marketing campaigns. I've lost track of how many women have told me that they just never thought about riding their own bikes.

Vroom vrroooooom!!!

That would depend on the woman - I try to avoid sweeping generalisations and take people as I find them (regardless of sex)

Women are the fastest growing market sector in the uk, and I love to ride.

I think it's great! If a woman can pass the test and get her M1 license, then why not? I have been riding my Honda CB-750 for 8 years now, and i love it! it's a great feeling to ride...as long as you do it safely.
