I've never seen this much fame of a book coming out. It's a book. Any other book that hits the stores no one cares about. What makes the last Harry Potter book so special. I ready the first book, had to stop it was too boring and stupid. I don't care what happens to him. People are waiting outside stores for hours to read the book.

Have you noticed 9/10ths of the questions in this category have Harry Potter written all over them

A lot of people who read don't think that it is boring: description in a book is something that helps it to come alive. Good description is very helpful, although it should be limited. It takes a patient kind of person to read a good, descriptive book. Maybe it's just that you lack the patience, maybe you are just annoyed in general by the hype. I put off reading the series for quite a while because I thought it was way too hyped up. When I finally sat down to read them, they really were quite good. As this is the last of a series (and there is definitely a lot of hype from that also), even those who don't really like it are willing to get on the band wagon and join in so they can seem to be part of the whole hype themselves. I, personally, want to read the book eventually. I still need to read the Half Blood Prince first, but it is an interesting series for the constant discovery Harry and the reader make about the world of Witchcraft and Wizardry that J.K. Rowling has made up. It is also nice to have a series where there is good triumphing over evil. When you picture yourself as the hero, you can feel as if you have just defeated Voldemort or a legion of Dementors. It's kind of cool.

Maybe if you want honest answers in the future, you should word your question better. I.E. "it was too boring and stupid," "J.K. Rowling is stupid," you don't think you are going to get too many really good answers from that question, do you?

Rowling has connected with people in a way that is powerful and unusual. People have been following HP's adventures for ten years now. A lot of kids have grown up with him. This is the last book in the series and is expected to answer all the questions, tie up the loose ends and tell us whether or not there is hope for the future. Naturally even something as nearly universally popular as Harry Potter doesn't work for everyone. I remember years ago not being able to see what the big deal was about the Beatles.

ok MR! heres my answer!!

1. other books that hit the stores are normally either just (as u say) a book or the first of a series no one has ever heard about. harry potter and the DH is the 7th and final book in the harry potter series which i'm sure u know is basically the most popular series ever written!!!!!!! make sense?
2. its the 7th and last book. (SEE ABOVE)
3. it was probably "too boring and stupid" because you are either obviously NOT the type to read, can't read or simply weren't concerntrating. however i do agree that the 1st book is probably one of the most boring and worst written however it is neccessary to read as it is the first and most explanatory one in the series)
4. that's your problem. many people DO care what happens to him and thats the WHOLE POINT!
5. yep. actually I was one of the ones that got to borders early; paid, got =my receipt, had a scone and lined up. so i waited two hours but most of that time i was either browsing the store, eating or drinking. me and my friends swap spots every ten minutes from eithe doing the above or standing in line. it would have been an entirely enjoyable time even if i hadn't been getting the book. as it was, i was so it could fairly be counted as one of my better days.
6. yes actually i have
your extra details. since you have hopefully read the above you should know my opinion on this comment unless of course you failed you test on reading and comprehension

I also didn't like Harry Potter (I tried, but I just did not enjoy her writing style) Wasn't my cup of tea...ho hum, I'm happy with the books I do read (much more sex and gore...and let's face it, that is a lot more fun than reading about a kid...not to be dispariging, but I'm an adult and I really want to read about people who are like me: have a job, have bills, have sex, have problems that don't involve bullies)

Also, what is going to be interesting is HP will be a classic. When this generation has kids, they will be lovingly reading these books to their kids. Just like The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was read to me. I remember finding that book so boring, to my mother's horror I'm sure.

This will be a classic, gathering dust on bookshelves. It is kind of sad really. All this fuss over a book that will be forgotten in a couple of decades (except by the well meaning parents trying to expose the magic to their kids)

Obviously, many people find the Harry Potter stories fun. Though you claim Harry Potter books bore you, you still ask about it.

If you truly don't enjoy it, try asking about something else, say like the Dune series!

I had the same question: why are people, especially kids, so enamored over this book and this series? While books can be important, I wonder if any book can be so important that . . . people wait hours in line to be the first to read it,
. people are disappointed to find out how things end up at the end.
. people avoid the Internet because they don't want spoilers . . .
But to each her/his own. If you enjoy such books, then by all means, read them and enjoy them.

Some people just really like the Harry Potter series. So of course they'll be excited about the last one. Then they will know what will happen to probably their favorite book.

I have to agree. I am a huge reader and I could care less. I haven't read any of the books.
But I don't think you should say the author is stupid unless you are rich from all the books YOU have written and had published.

First of all, Don't dis the genius.

Second of all, the books can make people laugh, cry, gasp, all of that. It teaches kids and adults alike about life. I've found that it can inspire you to put yourself out there and take chances or nothings going to ever happen. It's taught me how to deal with death and friendships and life pretty much. Its taught me that life it too short. It can be a good motovational inspiration to go for your dreams and try new things that you couldn't even have thought about in your dizziest daydreams.

It gives people hope that they can do what go for. Not fail at everything they try just because they have low self-confidence.

As for people waiting around for hours, they're crazy. I get there 10 minutes before and leave 20 later.
