I want to accept credit cards on my website, problem is that it's very hard to find any company that does this, especially for a Canadian...

Any recommendation?

Hi there!

Have you ever thought of getting an offshore merchant account? offshore merchant accounts cater to merchants of all nationalities. Plus, you'll have faster processing. my guy and I found this awesome offshore merchant account site, and now, he's on the process of setting one in a German bank. Our friends told us about this.

2checkout.com supports Canadian merchants, and if you do a search on "Canadian merchant" you'll find lots of other credit card service companies.

One word of caution, in comparing merchant programs (at least for a US seller), there's one tiny little piece of information most of these websites and their sales people will neglect to tell you, and it is about the cancellation fee (or whatever they choose to call it -- I call it a "rip off" fee) they will assess if you close your account within three years. So don't forget to ask about "early cancellation fees" when assessing your options.

Because the US banking system has more little banks that are independent they may not be able to take your card. I've had problems in the states off the beaten track with smaller regional banks but they were able to help me find a bank that I could use my card in. You are going to NYC and if you had a problem I would be very surprised. Your debit or credit cards are you best bet, we use ours when travelling overseas without any problems. Have a good time and safe home.
