My favorite NBA team are the Clippers, and I came about loving them because living in L.A I never cared about the Lakers. When I saw them winning their 3 championships I could have cared less. About 6 years ago I remember watching the Clippers and no one was really in the stands. All my friends liked the Lakers, and I just wanted to choose a different team, so I went to the "other" L.A team. People always talk trash on the Clippers, but I rooted for them ever since they were underdogs (Unlike you bandwagon GS fans). Anyways how were you influeced to choose your favorite team?

Wolfpack you shouldn't just like a team once they start getting good. Thats just being a bandwagon fan. Just like 70 percent of the Warriors fans.

Well, I'm a basketball fan. Here in Oklahoma the pickings were slim (University of Oklahoma or Okalhoma State University) for basketball. Though OSU has a great basketball history (the NBA Coach of the Year trophy is named for the OSU coach Hank Iba) and the OU teams have been good off and on; I wanted an NBA team to cheer on. So I looked around and the San Antonio Spurs had the coolest player ever. His nickname was even cool (the Iceman). And he had a cool poster of him sitting on a throne of ice. So the Spurs it was. And it is not easy to be a fan of Texas anything in this state. I've had a lot of grief from people here for rooting for that "Texas team".

Then the New Orleans Hornets started playing here because they couldn't play in NO after Hurricane Katrina. Whoa! An NBA team in my own backyard. So they became my 2nd favorite team (I couldn't give up the Spurs after years and years!) Well, the Hornets have gone back to NO and so I'm still sticking by my Spurs.

And now if the Sonics move here......

Yeah I totally agree with that bandwagon thingy. I'm not like that.

Me, I've liked the Mavericks since I was 11. Actually, I've liked it because of Dirk. During that time, he wasn't the superstar yet. That was 2001, and Finley was their star.

I've always liked Steve and Dirk, I thought they made a good team. From then on, I rooted for the Mavs. When Steve left for the Suns, I thought we're going down, butI never lost hope. I knew they had never reached the Finals before, and in the 2006 Playoffs, they won WC Finals, and moved on to the Finals. My heart sank when they lost to the Heat, but it's ok. I'm still hoping and will never lose faith in them.

p.s. I don't live in Dallas, Actually I've never benn there. When I was in the US, I lived in Sacaramento. So location didn't have anything to do with me being a fan.

The Dallas Mavericks, and i know half the people are laughing their @$$ off right now but you know what I've been a mavs fan from the low and out days. I was a fan during the Jackson days, I was a fan during the mashburn days, I was a fan during Blackman days, I was a fan during the finley days,I was a fan through the early Nowitzki nash days, I was a fan when nash left and when finley left. I was a fan when we lost to suns in 05, I was a fan when we lost to Miami, I was a fan when we lost to the freakin 8th seed this year and I still am a fan. And I will always be a fan. Coz thats what real fans do. I've gone through too much crap when the mavs were the butt of jokes for the whole NBA, have seen too many mistakes made, too many good player let go (Kidd, Mashburn etc) to not be a fan now. Its finally paying off. And I am proud to say that I am a fan regardless of the crap I get from other teams fans for being a Mavs fan. I live in Santone, a major rival for the mavs and every one hates the mavs here but I wear all my mavs gear with pride EVERY WHERE I go.

Ive been a Spurs fan since 1999, back when I used to play NBA JAM on my Sega system I always used to choose San Antonio because Duncan and Robinson were on the same team and with the twin towers I was unstoppable. Then about like a year or two after I started watching b-ball and I spotted them two playing and I stuck with them as my favorite team. From that point they started wining championships but even though they were winning no one ever liked them. The main reason I still root for the same team is because I trust players like TD and the veterans around him to keep making it to the playoffs and the more they make it further in the playoffs the more I root for them.

whoa whoa whoa there. i wouldnt generalize all GSW fans as bandwagoners. if you look at the attendance records. the warriors had an increase in attendance in 6 straight years(check espn.com i aint lying). the year before the playoff run they were 10th in home attendance when we still sucked. so that means we had more fans than some playoff teams which is pretty damn sad. we bay area fans have stuck by the warriors. well since i live in san francisco, my favorite team has always been the warriors. many of my friends were either kings or lakers fans because they were good, but i never liked them.

Actually I don't live in America so location is not really what I look to in terms of being a fan. I started watching the NBA towards the end of the Jordan days but I never became a Bulls fan even though I saw Jordan winning his last 2 rings. I watched and cheered for all the NBA teams indiscriminately until watching the Lakers acquire Shaq, whom I had been following for some time. I've always been a huge fan of players in the center position, because I believe they make the most impact on the game and also because of some psychological issues(I used to play PF in junior high but it seemed I reached puberty earlier than others and stopped growing, and now I'm kinda at the 2-Guard height but with a skillset that is entirely that of a low-post player's). Hence, you coulda kinda say I jumped on the Lakers bandwagon when they were in the Kobe-Shaq dynasty. After Shaq left, though, and it was apparent that he was in decline, I tried to look for the next dominant center to idolise, but have been unable to since there's no "next Shaq", only good attempts at substituting or imitating him. After the period of team fandom caused by a particular player, I decided to watch all the teams and see which team played the style I liked the most, in terms of fluidity on offense, and the Suns really struck me on that note. I had liked Nash since his Maverick days but seeing him blossom into a superstar late in his career after joining the Suns was really admirable, and I grew more and more attached to the Suns, since I love good passes and offensive movement. One aspect of the game I personally look out for in a team is shot-blocking, because I really enjoy great blocks, but alas the Suns have been quite disappointing with their average showing in that cateogry. You could call me a fair-weather fan, but since they're all geographically removed from me, I find it hard to stand by the Lakers now that they're a terrible/pathetic team, and I would struggle to support the Suns if they played dirty AND boring, or became a lottery team. The way the Suns management have been handling the team affairs, though, it seems like my time as a Suns fan may soon be up.

It was geography but then the hornets moved and i didnt want to follow them as a fan so i didnt. Then i picked a team that had a bunch of players I liked which happened to be the Kings. Then they sold most of the players I liked so now I am without team until the bobocats get good enough for me to be a fan.

I love the Golden State Warriors. Their season was remarkable.
What influenced me was that I live in the Bay Area. By the way most of the people here hate the Lakers as much as you, me included. They are my least favorite team.
