I mean like..our "elders" are much more prone to censoring bad language, pornography or sexual content etc. etc.
Kids nowadays don't *usually* have that quality. They don't really care if someone cusses or says something pervy or stuff like that. They see all this horrid stuff going on or see explicit videos and don't *usually* think much of it.

Is that a good or bad thing do you think? My mom says that it's kind of sad that kids are like that..but I'd have to disagree. I feel that censorship is just another way to be held down. I'm SO tired of all this "political correctness" crap. I think that many teens know all the bad stuff that goes on in the world, and I don't think that many of those things should be kept from us.

It's a little iffy to me. I think that sure, some things are ridiculous... like making sure that someone that's intelligent is supposed to be called Gifted, because intelligent is too strong of a word for the normal... I mean, non-Gifted... students to hear.

You don't want to teach a four year old the birds and the bees in complete gory detail or anything, but most teens have learned it all from the internet, through friends, or even through health class already. Personally, I'm don't say pervy things or even curse... heck, I don't even say things like hell yeah. But I don't think that sugarcoating everything is doing anything good... it's suppressing a bit of a sense of freedom, really.

In Social Studies class in 7th grade, I had a teacher who was just burnt up by political correctness. Then when I got into 8th grade, everything changed. Our report lengths doubled because no longer could we say "Indians", "Massacre", or "Battle", instead we replaced them with better words like Native American, Mass Inflicted Passings-Away, and Conflict. Come on, the Mass Inflicted Passings-Away of many Native Americans due to a conflict by General Custer just doesn't have the same effect as it should.

Ridiculous.

that's the stigma related to being a teenage mum that brings on those perspectives. quite some youthful females get pregnant and have no thought on a thank you to advance a toddler, the toddler then is going into care and turns into yet another unhappy statistic. some teenage mothers, like your self, do a grand job, and take a glance at their terrific to realize what they are in a position to. yet that's lots much less recognized. a pal of mine had a toddler at 14, she had to go living house using violence it attracted (this replace into 14 years in the past) human beings have been smashing her dad and mom living house windows, throwing stones on the pregnant lady and so on and so on. Now, she has a 13 year old daughter, polite properly mannered, respectful, you're staggering, age would not rely in the type you determine, a woman of 34 would desire to need help in baby rearing, the place as I even have considered a woman of 14 bring up a o.k. rounded youthful lady. I do even although sense its a shame that youthful females get tied down with a toddler at this type of youthful age while there is a lot of lifestyles to stay. save doing a stable job of elevating your daughter, and pay no interest to those disapproving stares you get while out along with your little family contributors

I think there is a difference between "bad stuff going on in the world" and explicit pornography, etc. As a parent, it's my responsibility to teach my son what is appropriate and what is not and when. I don't feel that children should be growing up without some sort of foundation of morality\decency, or they'll turn out like the girls in Santa Rosa that lit the kitten on fire. No thanks.

The problem with non-censorship, is that it makes it more common, therefore more acceptable to "Be" and to "Do" all that "horrid stuff going on".
Bad things of the world are not "kept" from children for their ignorance, but for their innocence. You must be young if you don't realize this!!
Yes, it is a shame children (and Teens) are exposed to such filth.

Swearing and talking like an imbecile will just make someone look stupid, but they can do it if they want to.

Freedom of speech is a right everyone should have, and even if someone wants to say something completely wrong, they still have the right to, and you have the right to tell them to stfu.

Censorship is never good.

As for things like swear words etc, they are just words, they can't exactly hurt someone.

Our elders did the same things, beginning at about 1960 when censorship chokeholds on America started loosening. Chances are, your parents and grandparents (maybe minus so much cussing, they were still horny) acted the same way.

Kids tend to take things for granted, and a lot of adults see the licentiousness of our culture as a cause of that.

But that has always been true. Our parents took things for granted when they were young, and their parents resented them the same way.

I think that usually people who say kids need to be protected from "corrupting" influences are the ones who are insecure about their own ability to INSPIRE kids to make good choices.
