I agree that many teens are rushing into sex too early, before they even know if they are ready or not. It's the hype from around school, the pressure, the lack of knowledge, young people hanging out with adults, etc. Also I think it has a lot to do with upbringing.
I do think though that some people who are under 18 can be ready to have sex, or as ready as you can get. But I do think 13 or 14 is way too young. I'm sure many people this age will defend themselves, but I think the immaturity that comes with being that young makes them think they may be ready when they in fact aren't. People have started having sex just for the sake of doing it, rather than to be close to someone. It's very distrurbing sometimes, the best we can do it try to raise our kids with strong morals and beliefs, despite what their peers think or do. It's a tough one.

it is normal i cant think of a single person who wasn't a teenager most were underage. i was 15 and i can definitely say it was a bad decision. i ended up with an abusive boy friend for 2 years because of it. I'm not saying i regret it because i am grateful for every crappy thing that has happened to me because they made me who i am and brought me to were i am. the fact is that we aren't going to stop teenagers from having sex we just need to teach them how to protect them self! when i had sex for the first time i had been with the guy for less than a month and just wanted to get it over with. i felt like there was so much pressure on being a virgin. the guy was a total dork and didn't deserve me but after it happened i was so scared he wouldn't call me etc. then i fell in "love" I'm now an adult and know what love really is but i was hooked whatever he did i was still there its really sad.

I lost it at 16 and I was totally ready, I had been with my boyfriend a year and it was perfect. We arnt together anymore but I never regreted it. I do think 14 is too young for sure. I planned on waiting till i was 18 but it just didnt happen that way. I think 16 or 17 is okay, but if it was my daughter i would probably want her to wait AT LEAST till 17 or 18.

I'm not gonna bash teens for losing their virginity because I lost mine at 16(and yes I'm still with the guy I lost it to and we are married with 2 daughters) but the age kids are losing it now is just damn ridiculous...it might be me because I have 2 daughters and dread the day they lose theirs, but 12,13,14,15 etc...is just too young. There are 12 yr olds having babies when they should be out playing with barbies and stuff like that...I mean I am only 21 but come on now these kids are just way too into losing their virginity as soon as possible...if you ask me how they are going right now its like its a contest to see who can lose it the fastest or its the new trend to lose your virginity by the age of twelve... So yeah I agree with you abou the really young ages but like I Said I cant be a hypocrit about 16 yr olds and up losing it cause I was one of em
Hope I helped out a bit

You are totally right on! Today's teenagers are not well supervised at all and when they are they whine about "being mentally abused" because mom and dad won't let them "hang out" with friends!

just to let you know everyone seems to be doing it.. and 16 seems to be the "new age" to have your first baby. I dont see how girls at 16 raise their kids and dont have a bit of problems doing it. I was 19 and got pregnant and oh boy it is so hard!! but now I am having baby # 2 married and lovin it!!

I agree with Roxy, it is each individuals right. A lot of people say its in the bible, its wrong. but not everyone has the same beliefs, and the thing that i think is wrong is when people try to force their beliefs onto others.

It is a personal choice. Everyone develops at their own pace and depending on how they are raised ... it gives them their own view of sex. I just believe that if you are ready for sex then you should be well informed of std's and other consequences. So you should use condoms and birth control together. If you are grown up enough for sex, then you should be responsible enough to know how to stop unwanted std's and pregnancies.

I think they are losing for wrong reasons, just for satisfaction for themselves. You are probably going to get some arguments on this.

I think that its personal choice and that others shouldnt judge people on the basis of their sexual activity
