Most important thing...your pillow.
Hospitals are gross and very uncomfortable, you can use your pillow to get some well deserved sleep and also to bite, sqeeze, wring through your contractions! Better than someones hand.
There are many list to packing supplies online, and people have given you some helpful info. Don't over pack, you wont use 90% of the stuff anyays, you'll be too busy working hard to bringing the baby home.
-One thing I do suggest you look into and bring is change for the parking meter, vending machine, and pay phone.
-The camera is a no brainer
-I would bring a drink like Emergen-C (or gatorade) to keep your energy and fluids up during a long labour.
-Bring a zip front sweater as hospitals can be over airconditioned and the zip front is great for nusing.
-Thick socks
-Some essential oils (Clary sage is great for bringing on those contractions).
Good luck and I wish you a happy and healthy baby and delivery.

Wow, not much I can add to this incredible list. I went to the hospital with nothing at all! (my water broke and I went right then.) My husband/in-laws/neighbors/friends were MORE than happy to get me ANYTHING I needed--grilled cheese sandwich and fries anyone? (grease made me sick during my pregnancy) One thing I didn't know going in..
When you have a baby, you are not always tired. I was really really wired! I was up for 23 hours straight and bored as I'll get out! After the baby is born... make sure you send someone to get you a book, a dvd/video (most rooms have a vcr), sudoku, crosswords...whatever you like. Just be sure to have some entertainment.
Yes your baby is entertainment... just a different kind, and while you are nursing/feeding her you can do other things!

I agree with the person who said don't bring a lot of the extra stuff. The hospital supplies a lot of things (you should check that out.) They even gave me a baby thermometer and nose suction. They've got plenty of diapers, wipes, robes, etc. What you really need to bring is clothes for you and the baby to leave in. And the one thing I wish I had brought was food! My labor was long and I didn't want my husband to leave my side. He was starving to death until a family member came and brought him fast food. Very necessary! And, of course, the camera. Just don't overdo it. You're going to be lugging home balloons, gifts, and a new baby so you don't want to be bringing home a bunch of other stuff too.

There is no need to bring all that crap, because you or your husband will end up having to carry all of it and you both will be tired. I would only take some extra clothes, toothbrush, toothpaste, lip balm. The hospital usually provides diapers and pads. If they don't give them to you, ask them. Where my daughter was born they supplied toothbrush, toothpaste, diapers, wipes, outfit, nursing pads, sanitary pads, almost everything you will need except extra clothing and deodarant.
And don't forget a camera.

You only need to take a goig home outfit for the baby and a car seat. For you I would suggest some pajamas and slippers and don't forget all your toiletries, like shampoo, deodorant, lotion, toothbrush, and many more. Congratulations!! You are in for the most rewarding thing you have ever experienced and I have only been a mom for 2 months!!!

Definites for you:
Camera with extra batteries (don't forget lots of film or large media card for digital camera.
Socks
toiletries for you
Clothes for you to wear home (something that fit at about 6 months pregnant).
Optional for you:
Pillow
Nightgown (hospital will provide gown, but some people prefer their own)
book or magazine
For baby:
car seat (have base installation pre-approved at local police station before going to hospital)
outfit to wear home
For hubby:
PJs if he's staying overnight in your room
snacks
drinks (some hospitals have a hospitality room for dads, others only have vending machines)
If you do forget anything, chances are hubby will have plenty of time to run home and get it for you after the baby is born but before you head home.
