People who are gay are born that way. At least 95% of gays are born that way. At least some choose it, but the vast majority have no control over their orientation.

Why in the world would anybody choose to be gay in today's society? There is so much hatred and discrimination directed at the GLBT community. GLBT people are subjected to hate crimes and gay bashing on a daily basis. Many churches will not let openly gay people join. People lose jobs because they are gay. And basic, fundamental rights of being an American citizen are denied to GLBT people. Gays can't marry or serve in the armed forces if they are openly gay. It is obvious to me gay people are born that way. I Just can't see a rational human being choosing to be gay when there is so much hatred and discrimination directed towards gay people. You are either born gay or born straight or born bisexual: choice has nothing to do with it! End of story.

People are Not born with anything in them that sets them to be gay. These are deep rooted situations that have come about from situations that could go back as far as 15 months of age, and can be associated with a dominant factor with the parents, but no necessarily 100%. It is a biblical fact that the lifestyle is against the way the Lord says for ALL people to walk, so He is not going to have the contradiction of making mankind, some, to be born to walk that way. Just is Not going to be....now that is biblical fact and what we all say is fact, well it is our opinions but we are still going to be dealt with by His facts, not our opinions. The lifestyle is evil, not saying the people are, the lifestyle is rooted from lust of flesh, self, the I want what I want and deserve it and it is not in the cells of our DNA. If we all could trace back to our beginnings, more would see where the root of this lifestyle, lust, desire, need, hunger, pain, etc...came into play...it is there people. God's truth is the fact and the rest is us wrong...been there done that so I know...blessings to you.

Of course gay people do not choose to be attracted to the same sex - why would you choose to restrict the available pool of partners, choose accept the bigotry and hatred, etc etc?
Some gay people choose to not act on their desires in the same way some hetrosexuals choose to be celibate. They are still attracted to the same sex, but find that unnaceptable to their parents, their religion or whatever. But gay people can no more choose to start being sexually attracted to the opposite sex that you could wake up tomorrow and choose to be attracted to the same sex
Whether it is innate or nurture at an early age is up for debate, but its certainly not a concious choice (there is also a correlation with homosexuality in twins, which suggests a genetic basis, but there are too many factors to say its a "gay" gene)

I'm not gay or lesbian, I'm transsexual, but I'll give you my opinion anyway. Why would I possibly choose to be me? I get called "she-male" tell me I'm an abomination before God, though God can speak for Himself, tell me it's a choice, blah blah blah blah blah, I'm an unclean sinner, the Bible says this, the Bible says that, I'm a dirty this that or the other thing, but of course, it's all about sharing God's love, which is why these people say such things, adding their looks of concern while trying to drive me to suicide because they feel personally uncomfortable now that they know I exist.
Oh and I almost forgot the "peer pressure" part too... don't you want to be normal, to be cool like us? We're normal, you are not, you want to be normal, don't you? We're the MAJORITY, and you are the MINORITY, and that is so uncool and not normal. Be normal, be like us.
It's like I didn't choose to be of Polish ancestry either, because all I got was being called "dumb polack, dirty polack, polish pig" all my childhood.
So do you think that somewhere in my answer you might find the answer that perhaps people didn't choose to be LGBT?

You can't change who you are no matter how much you want to. Trust me, I know. I tried for years to change who I am, fighting myself constantly. I would injure myself severely when I didn't do what I thought I should do. I would force myself to go out on dates with girls, and everything else I could imagine. I looked at straight porn, but always focused on the guy no matter what. I tried lesbian porn, but nothing happened. I even tried straight sex, and I couldn't do it. I got sick, literally. I always thought I was deformed or something, but finally I realized the truth. I am who I am. I am gay, not by choice, but because it is how I was made.

Being gay or straight is about as much of a choice as choosing to be Asian or Italian, or right or left-handed. And maybe someday there might actually be a way you can choose to change your skin color, but right now, without expensive makeup effects that don't look real anyway, you also can't choose to be black or white.

I know for a fact that I was born straight. I never woke up one day and decided "Hey! I think I am going to be straight!". I have always liked guys.
So no, it is not a choice.

It's genetic, hard-wired, unchangeable. Now, someone can willingly, freely choose to not act on those desires and attractions (much like "straight" people choose to be celibate), but what one is biologically and what one does through choice and action are different. You really can't change who you are!
Think of this: do people choose to be straight? No, it just happens...

That is an old topic and should be put to rest. It should not matter to anyone about another persons sexuality. What is important is you should treat people the way you want to be treated. Its not a choice its who we are.
