when your chainsaw kicks and you absorb the kick and enguage the brake as you are supposed to and the just sharpened teeth drag across your leg you can get a nasty cut even thought the chain is not moving.
lol. some days are better than others.

I'm so glad you're alright. this story reminded me of my brother. After a hurricane, a long time ago, my dad told my brother to cut up the tree. He used an axe. There were no chain saws back then and this was hurrican Carol. I'm dating myself. Anyway, Roger, my brother, had one foot on the tree to balance himself while he axed away. The next thing we new, he was screaming, While he was in the process of bringing the axe down on the tree, he missed & hit his foot. His big toe was dangling when dad removed his shoe. Surprisingly, he didn't loose it. They reattached it in the hospital and he was ok. Accidents can happen when you least expect them. I heard about chain saws doing what yours did. Please be careful. It's better that you lost a pair of jeans instead of yourself. I want to say 1 more thing as a warning to others. My same brother, Roger, was up on a ladder painting the eves on his new home. This was his dream home. He was only there for 3 wks. Anyway, he was always careful after the toe thing, but while on the ladder, it slid off to the side and Roger fell 2 stories. his head hit a cement walkway. Long story short, he went into a coma because of brain damage and died 3 wks later. This was 3 yrs ago. Even when we think we are doing the safest things, you never know. Like you said, some days are better than others. So all of you people who climb ladders, please, please make sure they are extra secure. Sorry if I got off the subject but I don't want any one else falling like Roger did.
I'm giving you a star because I think this is so kind of you to warn others.

OUCH! Thanks for the warning. I'll remember this the next time I'm using a chainsaw, even though I have no idea when that will ever be!
