Random question because; well, I am currently seperated from my husband of 3 years, not the 1st time either; but this time it might be for good. Part of me is dying inside; accepting that we might me over, yet part of me believes.. hey, maybe this happened for a reason. Maybe we just weren't meant to be; yet on the other hand I feel like he was the one for me. Just curious what other's opinion is on fate, and things happening for a reason. Do you trust that things happened for a reason in your life?

Aside from scientific considerations, it does not make common sense that life's events were predetermined a millisecond after the Big Bang.

Fate is what we make out of the haphazards we meet. That includes the consequences we create by our own choices, and those created by others. There's no big manipulating puppeteer in the sky; no fatal script written for us beforehand. That idea is a projection from childhood - think about it! So I don't think there is anything outside ourselves, from Fate to God, to "blame" for what happens to us, or how we experience it (two separate things - the second largely open to choice). "Blaming" is simply avoidance. If something happens more than once it's wise to look for some repetitive behavior - usually some strategy we learned as a child and keep on applying even when it is inappropriate and is somewhat disguised. In most situations, people see "reason" by applying some presumptions backwards. But I think we give our own lives reason, by examining what we experience, seeing if there are other ways to do so - and then stepping forward, with courage, and wiser. It usually involves the "little death" of seeing ourselves differently, which makes people cling to whatever caused the problem, rather than change and accept their freedom, and responsibility, for choice. Go for it!

This is an age old question. fate? I don't believe anything happens by chance, but a greater reason? I don't think so. Seperated, why ? cheater? Then call it a day and move on, life is too short for him to disrespect you like that. If not you married him for better or worse, don't take the easy way out. Marriage sucks sometimes. it takes a lot of work and understanding.

I do not believe in fate, especially not when dealing with marriage mates.

I have been married for 18 years. It is not easy by any means. It takes a lot of hard work and effort. As I watch other people my age, most of whom are on their 2nd or 3rd marriage, I ask myself what has made our marriage successful.

Commitment is huge, and so is being willing to be flexible and seek the advantage of the other person. Learning to defuse arguments is also vital. I have to say, thought, we couldn't have made it on our own without help.

I am going to provide you with a link to some articles that have helped to make my marriage a success. I really hope that you will take the time to open mindedly read them and find some pointers you can use as well.

Life & Death is controlled by God, but everything in the middle we control ourself.
Sorry to hear about your seperation , but if it is nt the first time maybe you are trying to force a realtionship that can not grow to maturity. Fate does not make or break marriages, people do. If you both married for a true love that respects, grows, supports the other them you would not keep seperating. Look at the problems & not an excuse for them like fate. Good luck & God bless.

I do believe that all things happen for a reason. Good and bad. I say that because I believe in God, and that blessings come in all shapes and sizes. I've seen an awful lot in the last two years, and I am learning that we are exactly where we are supposed to be at any given time. Make the most of this life, and take care.

I feel like things do happen for a reason, as frustrating as that sounds. It's funny in a way, because we as humans have this idea of control in our minds, that it is necessary for survival and the only way to truly get what we want. But I think, in the scheme of things, things do happen the way they are supposed to regardless of what we may or may not want to happen. Not to say that we have no control over what happens in our lives, but often times, situations arise that may not be to our "favor" that end up being better than we could even imagine.

The idea of fate is so difficult because it is unknown; we want so badly to know what's going to happen, just so we can prepare for either the best or the worst. But, to me, that's kinda what makes life exhilarating. The idea that beautiful surprises are right around the corner is nervewracking but ultimately just what we may need in the end.

I don't know. Looking at my life I could surmise that the reason is to make me feel small. But I just have no idea what the overall plan is.
