I will be 31 in a few months and today while I was out with my 3 kids I caught a glimpse of myself in a store mirror, baggy jeans, Doc Martin Boots, Black Short sleeve polo untucked...and I thought to myself...I'm dressed like a teenager or an early 20something....

I don't want to dress like an old man with tucked in button up starched shirt with dress pants and/or walmart blue jeans....

But I'm feeling like I'm also to old to continue shopping at Old Navy....

Also I don't look my age, I can pass for early 20's, I'm still in shape, but thats not the point, the point is I am older and should at least start dressing that...I don't want to be that 40 year old guy who still dresses like he was in High School...

A link to any adult mens clothing ideas would be great...

I've looked in the "mens sections" in stores, and those clothes just seem to "grown up/my dads clothes" for me.....

Any IDeas?

Don't sell out dude. Continue to be you. I'm 31 and had these same grumblings. But then I realized that I'm comfortable in my own skin and clothes. If you don't like those kind of "responsible, mature adult" clothes then don't buy them.
Don't worry about being that 40 year old who dresses like they're in high school. I think everyone finds a certain time frame, or style in their life that they feel most comfortable in and that is how you'll dress.
It's just your style I guess.

Dude, if you enjoy it go for it. Who the hell cares what you do to yourself? And although I wouldn't do that... I've heard it's quite comfortable. Now as for the bra's, that's a different story. Now it's fine that you enjoy it, but the bra's don't offer anything other than a feminine feel. SO have you considered you may be a transvestite? There are straight transvestites. (Men dressing up as girls who like girls). Also, just because you do manly things dosen't mean your not gay. I know a gay guy who could kick your butt, he's on the wrestling team (which is interesting lol). And I like to wear brand names like Ralph Lauren, and see brands (I'm very high end brand "fluent") but I still think woman are sexy as hell. But there's nothing wrong with being gay, transvestite, trans gender, or straight. You are what you where born to be. And that's the way it is.

Don't worry about it.. If you're not ready for the oldies section, then why shop there? My husband's going to turn 30 this year and I hope he dresses like a young guy forever. On that subject, there's a guy where I work in his late 40's that sports t shirts with bands like Good Charlotte and New Found Glory. Do what works for you.

A good pair of jeans (always)...you can never go wrong with polo shirts. But don't wear obvious labels....Abercrombie, Hollister, A & E, etc...people who wear those spell 'insecurity' every time I see them...or "hey look, I have a job, spend way too much on clothes, and therefore, I have no money". But that's just my opinion. I'm 31 also, and my husband won't wear labels and our bank account loves us for it (and he looks a little classier than someone running around "labeled" all the time. Good luck!

i am 32 and most of the guys my age that I think dress nicely shop at places like J. Crew, banana republic, brooks brothers, etc.

you should try a more fitted not so baggy pant. the more baggy the clothes the younger you will appear. Most men I know where things more fitted and closer to the body. fit is the important thing. Instead of the doc martin boots, try some lace up shoes that are more dressy. My bro loves kenneth cole shoes. You can still shop at Old navy, but only for basics like plain t-shirts, jeans, khakis etc.

you also really need to watch the whole logo or saying t-shirts. Those will also make you look younger.

I like this, it's a nice shirt with a little bit of zing to it, that catches the eye. It's not juvenile at all. I think something like this would be really nice.

This jacket is totally awesome to, so maybe try to find something like it, only in BLACK, not white, because white is too impractical (it will get dirty really easily). Just that nice style of blazer/jacket is really hot. It would look awesome, and not 'old' at all.

You could also wear black leather dress shoes (for gods sake don't wear trainers or sports shoes, unless youre actually playing sports) and grey or black jeans, because those colours look a bit more mature than blue jeans. They are classy but still casual.

You can still shop at places like old navy etc, just don't get anything that looks immature, like don't buy any crap with writing or weird graphics on it. Go for nice solid colours or subtle patterns, I just think they look much nicer.

Hey just go to the malls and observe guys who you think are very well dressed, that are close to your age.
If you find some one who really looks good and you would very much like to look that good yourself, then go up to them and introduce yourself and tell them how much you like their clothes. I promise they will not be offended and will appreciate the comment.
Then ask them where they shop and where they got their good looking clothes.
They will tell you and you are on your way.
Be prepared for pricey clothes, good looking clothes come with a price, but you will get noticed and feel much better about yourself.
Just keep this in mind; be able to mix and match things to save money and look good all the time.
Hope this helps

Since u do not care for walmart clothes anymore go somewhere like TJ Maxx, Goodys or Marshall. They have nice stuff for guys of all ages and it also name branded stuff for reasonable prices. Where something like an pair of nice jeans with an t-shirt on with an button down shirt on but open. U can stop tucking ur shirts in b/c that is granddaddy stuff unless the shirt is made to be worn in. Good luck

JCREW has the best clothes for guys. They have nice casual wear that is put together and not screaming lazy 20 -something. They also have more sophisticated, classier stuff. I'm telling you, JCREW.
