The Bushes and Reagans seem to always be at war with an abstract idea... terrorism, drugs, etc.

But the constitution is not abstract... it reads more clearly than the bible...
They can't read much of their own hullabaloo into it except the grey area that we call the 2nd Amendment.

The Bush Administration loves grey areas... so they can "interpret" the will of the people - just check out this little gem from the White House this month:

Because at this point the left and the right want a very powerful government. It used to be that the Republicans supposedly stood for less government and the Democrats wanted a larger government with more control - closer to socialist values. Bush has become a fascist in his values. I agree that there is a definite war on the Constitution and nobody is saying much (except for Ron Paul) because it fits the agenda, sadly, of both parties at this point in history.

RON PAUL 2008!

Because the mainstream media and the congress are spineless cowards who don't know about the separation of powers or the use of checks and balances.

Bush and Cheney behave as if the congress is irrelevant, but I think that the people are starting to catch on to their many abuses of power. Bush and Cheney are behaving as if they are powerful monarchs who don't have to have anyone in their administration testify before congress.

But 45% of the public want Bush impeached and 54% of the public want Cheney impeached, so that, even without a maverick congressman or journalist, the people may yet rise up and insist that these criminals finally be removed from office for waging war on the Constitution.

It kind of has been in public. With big news on wiretaps, detainee cases going up to Supreme Court...etc. I've seen big front page headliners. Actually it's in the news like all the time usually some type of legal issues with war on terror.

If Bush has a "War" on the Constitution by doing things that can go against some interpretations of the Constitution (not saying he's right or wrong, just saying), then Honest Abe must've killed the thing.

Seriously. When you have a gripe like this, look at history. It's been done before, only worse, and by better people, I promise you.

I am thinking our media is in on it, or afraid of retaliation.
Our three part system of government is in danger as well as the Constitution and the Republic...but we are kept in the dark and the press is aiding and abetting this slide towards fascism. I honestly wonder if we will ever have free elections again. This all started with Nixon.

Bush doesn't have a war with the constitution - he just ignores it, thinks it doesn't apply to him and/or finds ways around it.
