in india marriage is a social contract.it can not be enforceble by any court of law.agreement or promise or love letters or affidavit does not having legal enforcement since it is a social contract.in this case the girl was cheated by the boy.cheating is an offence, for this the boy can be prosecuted under the provisions of indian penal code.but she is not having any legal remedy for her marriage with that boy.she is eligible for compensation but she is refusing it.her demand for marriage with that boy is not possible.even court can not enforce it.there is a lot of evidence for that she was promised and cheated and sustained much pain and wasted her valuable time with that boy.
sorry friend asper law & her views she can not get marry with that boy.

Even if there was a legal remedy, would it not mean that the boy will be forced to marry you against his wishes?
Do you think a forced marriage is going to give you any happiness except the sense of victory that you may have?
For your own sake please forget about this boy. He doesnt love you any more. The almighty must be having something better in store for you. Just wait. You will surely find a boy soon who need not write an affidavit that he will marry you. You will know that 'this' is the boy as soon as your eyes meet.
Wait for this to happen. He is somewhere around!
Just out of your sight at the moment.

What is the point of marrying somebody who doesn't wish to get married anymore?!?
That makes absolutely no sense at all and would only end up in divorce, trust me!
P.S. What has an affidavit got to do with all this?!?

Yes as If you are in India its possible - go to the nearest police station and file a dowery harrasment, go to another file violence and then go to the 3rd and file a rape!!
The cops would force the boy to marry you!!
People of the world who ever is reading this - this is the FACT in India the boys are being hrassed and there is an utterly no basic fundamental HUMAN RIGHTS that a Man in India has!! The moment you marry or have any kind of RELATION with a GIRL she with the help of JUDICARY, Govt, Law'n Order machineries of the WORLD's LARGEST DEMOCRACY can destroy the MAN and his FAMILY who may be of any nationality. One of the reasons these days one would find mass exodus of Indian Professionals into other countries and then taking permenant residence or citizenship in thos countries - because they are being harrased, tortured and extorted. One would also find a lot of Indian Men are marrying Foreign Nationals. If they marry a non Indian Woman do they get Dowery? Obviously No!! - They marry because they want a settled, steady and safe life which they cannot get any longer with Money Sucking INDIAN WOMEN!!

This isn't the 1800's. People promise to love till death do us part, and don't keep that half the time. Why would she want to marry someone that doesn't want to marry her? What kind of a marriage would she have even if he did? There isn't anything legal she can do about it that I'm aware of. I can't imagine a judge letting that kind of thing waste his time in court. There are "other" more important legal matters than somebody changing their mind. Thank God he changed his mind before they got married. She needs to get over it and move on. The best revenge is living good.

I don't think so, there is nothing you can do, if he doesn't want to marry her, then she should try and get over it.. It s no point, i know it is going to be very hard for her, but at least she has found now then later.. Her boyfriend that was then, he isn't worth crying tears over him, he is a loser. Tell your friend to be strong, if it isn't meant to be in fate, then its not meant to be. I think she has a lucky escape. Good luck

I've read an article about this kind of thing in India.
And if this guy had sex with the girl. Then apparently the girl can complain to the police that he raped her, even if their sex was consensual. Because sex outside of marriage is not allowed.
And then this guy will either have to go to jail or marry the girl.

Why do you want to marry someone who doesn't want you? He may not want to marry you because you sound like you have other issues. There should have been no affidavit. That's ridiculous. Let it go, and find someone who wants you, and not because they are forced to be with you.

That's why you're supposed to marry for love, and not because it is arranged. I don't care if it is a part of one's culture, there can't be much good in it if you have to "learn" to love your spouse. The boy should have the freedom to marry whomever he wants. Relationships end. It happens. Move on.

Not in this country, nope. While most contracts are legally binding, whether they are verbal or written, the type you're talking about is one of the exceptions.
Your only remedy is to move on.
