Yes, because often times people in pain, crisis or anything troubling can't see beyond the thing on their mind. In the course of feeling awful, they begin to think that the rest of their life will be like it presently is. Hearing that "this too shall pass" can give a person hope that the rest of their life will not be as it is when they are suffering or having a bad time.

I love that saying. It just helps me get through a lot. It means that when you are in a stressful, or painful situation, that it wont last forever and to just hold on.
