i am traveling in august to the states and i always have this horrible fear that i am gonna get searched at the border. i don't carry anything on me for them to find, but if they don't find anything do they still let you through, or do they make you go through that whole ordeal for nothing then deny you entry?

I am a lifelong US citizen. I have been stopped at the border, every time I've come back from Canada for the last 3 years. They open my trunk, see that it contains nothing but a suitcase and then show me on my way.

The last time I came back in April, we crossed at Niagara Falls. They stopped every car that was crossing then, and except for the one car where they found something and arrested the 2 young men in the car, everyone else was allowed to enter the US.

They check random cars, then send you on thru if there is no problem. Don't worry.

unless your name duplicates someone on the terrorist-watch-list, you'll just be let in.
