The way I calculated my next month's financial budget, I'm afraid I won't have enough money for food after paying all my bills. I applied for food stamps, but they still haven't gotten back with me. & I'm running low on food.

Are there any bills that will take half payment at the beginning of the month and the rest in the middle of the month? That will give you a little more time to get the food stamps. Can someone give you a ride to a food bank to pick up some staples? They have them where I live. Also where I live they will give some people emergency food stamps while they are assessing their case.

The government should pay a disabled person enough to live. You are entitled to the basics in life.

I am very sorry you are going through this; I only wish I was in a position to help.

That's a hard one. Are there any places where you can buy food at a cheaper price? Do you have children to feed? If it was just me, I would eat top ramen until I had gotten the food stamps or had more money. But if I had kids I would probably ask my parents or someone for help. I'm sorry you're in this situation. Good luck!

P.S. Don't go to the Money Tree or anything like that, people get stuck in a cycle when they do that and it's very difficult to get out.

There are numerous local food banks who will provide food on a weekly or bi-monthly basis. You need to visit them and sign up to attend them regularly. Salvation Army offers one-time emergency food, some churches have representatives from St Vincent DePaul who will provide grocery cards and/or groceries, and as far as food stamps from DPA: When you apply for food stamps, you will know the same day that you apply if you are eligible and for how much monthly as per monthly income. They do NOT get back to you. If you qualify, you may request emergency food stamps, as well as get your card that same day. If you do not qualify, they will tell you that as well. Either way, the day that you visit, apply and talk with a case worker, you will know for certain as to your qualifying status....at least in PA. If the caseworker tells you to await a letter via mail re: your acceptance, then you can bet youre not gonna get it. The only letter you will recieve via mail is the one telling you what youre benefit amount will be.
