My boyfriend and I are taking a trip to San Antonio in a couple of weeks and I was wondering what do you guys think we should pack. We're New Yorkers and we don't want to stand out too much. Are shorts ok? Are jeans in the summer weird? Dark colors bad? Haha, I don't mean to sound high-maintenance, I just can't wait to start packing for this trip!
Also, is it super humid there or just OK? Thanks!

Shorts, Jeans, and Tshirts are fine here. Yes it's very humid and hot here. Dark colors will make you hot, but you should be fine with shorts, jeans and short sleeve shirts. Like the other person said bring some nice stuff too if you want to go out for the night.
Yes, it's very humid here because we're 130 miles from the Texas coast.
Our normal highs right now are about 94-95 degrees with high humidity.
If you're going to be walking around downtown I'd wear shorts, because there is no breeze because of the buildings and it gets very sticky.
Oh yea, bring an umbrella. Because it's been raining a lot, and you'll never know when it's going to rain again.
If you get cold easy businesses here tend to keep their AC's on high so you may want to pack a light sweater if you get cold easily. My mom brings light sweaters with her to restaurants because they keep them so dang cold.
You won't need to pack anything else long sleeve or warm.

San Antonio is like most southern tourist cities, casual and friendly. People wear what they want and are accepted at all but the most posh places. During the day the temperature in late july and mid august is usually about 95 degrees but can reach over a hundred and lately has been cooler due to rain and overcast conditions. It is usually in the 70's at night. Many people wear blue jeans (actually the dress slacks for most of Texas) but during the day while enjoying the sites shorts are considered the better choice or light weight slacks if you are sun sensitive. Short sleeve or sleeveless blouses are a good idea also. Most of the area restaurants will have people dressed in shorts and casual shirts, but the person next to you may well be in a suit (especially on the Riverwalk which has many business people dining at lunch). Nightclubs are, as everywhere, places to see and be seen, and you are judged by what you wear, but there are often people dressed casually as it can be hot until after 9pm. Dark colors attract heat but if they are you best colors wear what you want. As many people have noted businesses frequently have strong A/C systems to control the heat/humidity so a light jacket or sweater is a good idea. We have had a historically wet year with rain almost everyday since April, definately bring a small collapsable umbrella. Another good idea when touring in San Antonio is a reusable water bottle with a shoulder strap. The heat can make you thirsty, and while the water in local stores can be obtained as cheaply as a few dollars a case. The street venders will often charge $3-5.00 for a cheap brand of bottled water.
As you asked about humidity, it is higher than usual right now due to all the rains, if you are used to a low humidity get ready to perspire a little, but it is definately worse closer to the coast and lower than in south Florida if you have been there.
Most important!!! Just come to what we consider to be a highly enjoyable city. There are some nice historic sites, Sea World and Six Flags. Also be sure to try some of the special local flavor. Go to La Fogata and get a Margarita... sit outside on the Riverwalk, and most importantly eat some Tex-Mex and Texas Barbeque.

Your summers in New York are sometimes pretty warm, so I would tell you that what you wear the hottest time of the year there is appropriate here. I was raised just out side of Boston and I wear shorts 340 out of 365 days of the year. You asked, "is it super humid there or just OK?" It isn't as dry as the desert, and isn't as humid as Houston. If you have been to Memphis, you would find that we are similar in humidity. I want that you should have a good time while you are here, please remember that we are a tourist center and we really have very few places that have a dress code. We pretty much will tolerate anything as long as you have the plumbing and the accessories covered. Wear what is the most comfortable for you and that really applies to the shoes on your feet. Plan on walking around a lot, as there is so much to see while you are here. There are two things that are a must for you to bring with you. The first is a camera and the second is a really good sun blocker, and as some one has mentioned maybe you should bring a umbrella also.

We are a very casual city. Lots of Short sleeves or no sleeves. Lots of shorts or skorts or little skirts, flip flops for hanging at the pool or mall and athletic shoes with gel inserts for walking a lot. You can even get away with flip flops for church. One pair of Jeans isn't a bad idea, but only because indoors it's rather cool. I bring a sweater to go to the movies and some restaurants, but outdoors it's sweltering because we have had so much rain lately which is really really unusual. Spend a lot of time at the pool! Or bring a water spriters or wet wipes to wipe down occasionally. And bring mosquito repellent wipes. Our mosquitos are like twice the size as in New York. Bring sunblock, a hat and sunglasses. All necessities.
Have fun. (Oh, try not to wear anything 100% cotton. It will be all wrinked. Get a light poly blend) don't listen to Fabienne.

Ignore Maverick, who apparently doesn't realize that the "T" in LGBT stands for Transgendered, of which Crossdressers (Tranvestites) are a part. You could see if San Antonio has a Tri-Ess Chapter (which they may have). Texas is pretty conservative and given the mindset of many there, you would be considered just above rattlesnakes and chupacabra. But yes, there are probably more than are willing to admit it and many of them wear heels every day (cowboy boots that is.)

coming from san antonio, shorts are ok. No, jeans in the summer are not weird. In fact, not wearing jeans anytime of the year is pretty weird in texas. Dark colors are not bad. Ummm.. pretty much the only way you can stand out in san antonio is by wearing some mink shawl or a trench coat.

It's hot and humid so shorts or capris are nice. Sandals, tennis shoes for walking around. Bring a rain jacket because it may be raining. Colors don't matter, but your better off in light colored clothing because of the heat. You can bring a nice outfit if you intend on going to one of the night clubs. Dark colors and jeans are not bad, but good luck! It gets pretty hot out there some days. Lately its been mid 70's at night and evening and during the day mid to hight 80's. We've had a bit of rain the past several days so it has been a little humid during the day.

It really dosen't mattr really because us San Antonions usally wear shorts or short sleeves because it is usally very hot down here but lately its been raining a lot so i would say jeans and closed shoes.

if you are going downtown to the river walk then you both should wear some shorts and some comfortable shoes...i was there last weekend and bring and umbrella just in case because the weather lately has been unpredictable...but i love san antonio so have fun
