This is my first time to Vegas; I am going with my husband and we are meeting 3 other couples there from all over the US. We are all 20s/30s, married with kids (but no kids on the trip). Not uptight nerds, but not floozy teenagers either. ;)

We reserved rooms at Monte Carlo but don't really have plans otherwise. We have Thurs-Sat nights in August... What should we definitely abbbsolutely see/do while there? I would hate to come home and go "Aw CRAP! I can't believe I missed ______ while we were there."

I'm the same age range, and in a similar spot in life. Here's my recommendations:

Definately walk the strip, but dont forget to walk it at night, it takes on a different feel!

Check out all the "gimicks" The fountains & conservatory at Bellagio, the Volcano & white tigers at Mirage, The Sirens of TI show at At Treasure Island, The Forum Shops at Caesars & the Fall of Atlantis Show there, St Mark's Square at the Venetian, these are just my favorites--every place has something! ( recommend going places in chunks--south strip, center strip, north strip...otherwise, you'll get exhausted--everything looks closer than it is)

Freemont street is worth seeing, go one evening & check out the light show...the gambeling can be a little cheaper, as are the drinks! :)

Pick a Cirq Du Soliel show--any show, they're fabulous. (Even the guys will like them, but KA seems to be most guy friendly, tell them it's got a martial arts theme!)

My absolute favorite hang out is the Ghostbar at the Palms, an off strip hotel, but well known! The Ghostbar is high, with a balcony overlooking the entire strip, the view is incredible, and the music great. The crowd is mostly 30 somethings & a little more laid back--a real classy place! (dress nice, no sneakers, but jeans are ok)

One word to the wise--dont do a timeshare tour--these people are everywhere--you get crappy seats at a show or a free stay at a hotel--but it usually ends up being a 2 star one--not worth your time! (it takes a whole day, not a couple hours like they say) So, my advise--Just say no! :)

Hope this helps, Have a great trip!!!

Listen about the time shares, walk away.

Must see the the Venetian on second floor shopping strip. RIde the coaster at New York New York and see times square inside while you are there. Go down to Fremont street one evening. I enjoyed the meals at Out Back in the area of Harrah's. The prices were comparable to home, not a Vegas Rip of cost. You can eat for cheap in the food court on the strip but the food is cheap too. Sometimes you don't want to spend much. Krispy Creme Donuts are made fresh in the Circus Circus first floor area and cost much. Planet Hollywood got good revues from my son. I like to gamble in Bill's Saloon and in the Flamingo HiIton. Very nice folks. Somebody told me there are rocks that stand up and talk out there after I got back. Play the craps tables if you want fun.

For atomosphere plan on going out in the early evening and spending most of the night. Definatly walk the strip and explore but don't hurry. If you like it quieter then 2am until 9am are your times.

The henna ink tattoes cost 20 or more each and didn't stay on. My son and his friend tried an oxygen bar. 20 each and came way lauging and talking about the expierence for hours. They are under 18 BTW,

see the shows! O is great. if you guys are big gamblers, then you can get the tickets comp'ed. if not, there's a place that locals go to get tickets half off. you don't get much choice but 50 off 100 is huge. ask your concierge.
