Since I've seen the same concept depicted a number of ways since the early 1960's (the first time was in a 1950's science fiction movie), I guess I've had more time to think about it.
Possible - yes.
Probable - unknown but I doubt it.
Provable - no.

One must learn as much as possible about all things. In learning, one must also learn to cast aside those things which no longer fit into your concept of application to your actual life. If something being discussed is forecasted to happen in 5 Billion Years, should you let it worry you? Probably not.
