Sing silently unto the moon,
For the moon is yet to rise.
But worry not, and never do,
For the moon shall see your eyes.

I know its just one stanza, but yeah, the eyes are the window to the soul, and therein lies the metaphor.

A "metaphor" is when one thing becomes something else. If you said, "your moon smiles when you open your eyes", the metaphor would be that you, or your face, is being compared to the moon...or actually "is" the moon. If you said, "the moon is like your eyes", then it's a simile (something said to be "like" something else).

So, I see no "metaphor" in this poem...you say that the "moon shall see your eyes"...it sounds like you're saying "the moon shall see your eyes"...period...there is no metaphor. Your poem calls the moon "the moon" and her "eyes", "your eyes"...so, again, there is no metaphor.

As far as the poem itself goes, you could have said, in the last line, "The moon becomes your eyes"..."that" would have been a metaphor.

hope this helps

I like yours . It need a title and an illustration. The explanation was not necessary. and I do not think the word "for" is needed either. That is a matter of taste. I almost see this as mothers advice to her infant.

Lovely!

and I like Dr. Smack or Dr. Whacks offering as well. Oh, Dr. Know it All, sorry.

Thanks for explaining that. Now here's one for you.

My silver plated spoon
is the thing for which I croon
I use it for my cereal
And stuff that's more ethereal

It shows me my reflection
In the opposite direction
I can use it cooking smack
When I'm feeling like a whack

I love my little spoon
And that's why I wrote this tune
You can keep your fork and knife
But I'll love my spoon for life
