the contact lenses boomed during the 1960's. They were very popular. It was in the June aedition of Good Hosekeeping in the 1960's. A wide variety of contact lenses were available.

They didn't make them then.
They didn't even get soft lenses until the 70's, and colored lenses about the same time.
I remember all these girls coming to school crying the whole time their contacts were in, trying to get used to them. You had to practice every day.
Guys didn't start wearing them until much later, probably because the pain wasn't worth the price.

Yes we have come a long way. I was born with brown eyes and now had surgery . I have pemenant green eyes thanks to the newcoloriris 8 minute procedure that changes eye color
