If you are going to go to college anyway, pick one that has an acting course.
That is , unless you believe you are one of that rare breed,
'the natural actor'. In which go for it.

Hi,

You can do it, but you need to have a method and the right attiutude and a certain skill set. Before you move though, do some homework.
If you do a search here on answers you will see other answers to this question, as it comes up usually a couple of times each day. I answer this question a lot and so instead of writing the same or similar answers over and over again, I have created a 28-page ebooklet that answers pretty thoroughly your question. Just go to http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/acs-blog.html , sign in on the right side of the page and you can download it for free. It's called: What It Takes To Become An Actor.

The second resource you might want to have a look at is this page: http://www.actingcareerstartup.com/how_to_get_an_agent.html . It takes you through a process that I used to get two agents and a personal manager in a short period of time.

There's so much more information to give you, but I have to stop here.

Hope this helps!

Hard? the acting part mught not be "hard"
There's nothing about acting but being a tool of the play/script
you just do what they want from you: become the character, no Find the character in you

I am going through that
Here are the things I see as true:
Acting is mostly about self exploration and effort and the

training isn't as necessary, endless practice, reading/learning by yourself is, look at the mirror, what might you be cast AS?

generally seeing where you are and what you want...
Thats right , you have to start from the END - what you want
try auditioning right away, and see for yourself, maybe you're a natural
but dont INVEST in it at the start or you might get scammed

again read and seek advice, believe in yourself bla bla

now "hard" part : there's demand and supply, acting= not enough demand/ your liked and lucky or you're screwed - thats not about acting at all! becoming a better actor just conti
nuously improves your chances

Everybody in hs who wants to be an actor is going through this. You can't become an actor by giving acting a chance, you become an actor because you have to be an actor. Acting couldn't care less about you or if you give it a chance.
In my book, The Tao of Acting, Mentoring for the Aspiring Actor, I note that unless you can get into one of the very few top university acting programs, you should just skip college and start being an actor now. If you go to a second=rate acting program, you are wasting your time, effort and money when you could be acting. If you want to discuss this more write me at kencosp@aol.com
