System Restore is a feature that is integrated in Windows Operating Systems. This feature is used more often than not when some users find that there compute locks up or starts to act very buggy because of downloading from unsafe sites and the likes. Sometimes a user will download different Virus Software that are not compatible, and then they use the feature to set there operating system back to a date that they know was good and trouble free.

System Restore is a component of Microsoft's Windows Me, Windows XP and Windows Vista operating systems that allows for the rolling back of system files, registry keys, installed programs, etc., to a previous state in the event of a failure.
windows System Restore DOES NOT fix anything

well its suppose to roll back your computer to a specified time (if system restore point available) but the reality is that on xp and everything that came before it....well, it doesn't work...the only thing it would restore is your registry and leave all the unwanted programs and viruses (including their root files).....
but it works pretty good on vista.

it restores the registry and system settings ...not files and folders ... u can do that manually though using windows backup in advanced mode if u want ...

It takes your computer back to a time when everything was working correctly. It doesn't delete current e-mails, etc.
